Went for a spin today and found this on top of primary cover, but cannot see from where, but I think maybe a gasket[confused]

might be comming down from the rear rocker box gasket. check around the shock & fan for oil. happened to me, blew oil all over[sad]

could be breather on the top of the head, rockerbox, starter seal or primary gasket.start high and work your way down breather and rockerbox are pretty easy to see with the lower airbox off.

I have already taken the airbox and related parts off,but will take all advice, hope it will not be anything to bad, at least it is winter so can take my time.:)

Also,If I am looking at the manual right it looks as if I won't have to drop the motor if it winds up being a valve cover gasket,or will it be better to drop it.

if it is the rear rocker box i'm pretty sure you will have to rotate the motor. is that where the oil is coming from?

Me again,I may have found two possibilities for leak, one, there is oil around the rear rocker box, two, the transmission vent tube looks to have a crack in it but no oil that I can see on it,will post pictures soon,it has oil on the fan as well, also any ideas on what to do if the header bolts break as easy as I have heard, thanks.:)

Thanks for the advice about rocker box,but I still worry about the exhaust header bolts breaking when I try to get them off, maybe the same as the rocker box.[confused]

sorry ment to say
for exhaust nuts warm the bike up spray it with penetrating oil let it cool then remove.

Headers do not need to be removed to change rocker cover gaskets or to rotate the engine.

Of course, you may be referring to the exhaust collector to muffler connection, which heat plus penetrating oil works well, use anti-seize when reassembling.

Gary took apart his bike in the wrong shed, he has to put the bike back together and move it to the correct garage with all the tools.

:D
