a local hd shop sells metal bottle type things that hold i think it 's like a liter of gas or something like that.

Got my tire repair kit in the mail yesterday and it fits perfectly above my battery in that little dead space.

Also I will have to look into the little aluminum bottle. Maybe substatute that with an aluminum water bottle since it would be just as safe.

Gas stored above a battery sounds like a recipe for disaster.

As for mentioned a few posts ago, index wipes are a very bad idea for plastic. For bug cleaning, I use the "magic eraser sponge". Its amazing!

I always carry a small first aid kit, a crescent wrench, a leatherman, a butane lighter, some snacks in case I'm roadside for longer than expected. Also, an extra cell phone battery, or battery booster is a good thing to consider.

Know there is no good place to store extra fuel but I think if I strap it to the back of my license plate would be best.

No go for an extra battery since I have an iPhone but the USB cable will be on hand.

A small tool kit will be alnog with a leatherman too, with a handy first-aid kit. As far as bugs I figure the window cleaner and a paper towel at each gas station will be fine.

Paper towels work in a pinch, but remember, window cleaner is for glass, and paper is wood, and wood isn't the best thing to clean scratchable things with.

fuses. stuff shorts and plugs come loose. things like that you can fix on the side of the road, but when youre done you still have a blown fuse. oh and ear plugs. made 8 hour trip on my bike w/o and wanted to jump off @ 80mph just to get away from my pipes. iused t.p. from gas station and now carry ear plugs everywhere i go. Even if youre bikes not loud it'll reduce fatigue. have fun and good luck

Good one goatsxb9s, ear plugs, I use them on trips to Daytona, they seem to cut down on fatique also.

Ear plugs? I never ride without them and I'm running a stock exhaust. Seen a story in a bike mag a million years ago, one hour on your bike with a GOOD helmet is something like working in a factory for 8 hours where ear protection is mandated. Oh ya, and once your hearing is gone....it's gone, ask any musician.

Yeah my hearing is already F'ed up from explosions and gun fire in the war. So I guess if I want to keep what I have left I better wear something.

Post your route and set up way-points with people from this board. Even Coffee and conversation might be all you need. Possibly someone could direct you to the nearest dealer if youre in a jam.
1000 miles is about 16 total hours on the bike at 60 mph

Going to be going through Canada and dont really know to many people that live around that area.

But frequent stops will be a must to be able to enjoy the ride and scenes.

extreme? When are ya coming? I'm in Kitchener,10 min off your route if you're on the 401 eastbound to Hwy.6 south.
Stop in and say Hi if ya want

id also check your sub frame bolts , those like to get loose and fall out. id probally go over the whole bike and torq it to spec with some loctite too.and the the sub cage bolts that bolt into the fram 1/4 20 allens those like to get loose too, and the sprocket had those get loose also.

If you're goin through port huron I live about 20 min away from the border just (an I mean just) off the main highway to Niagra Falls. (Sarnia ON)

Me and the wife know of some pretty good wine tours, and some good (and bad) attractions in Niagra Falls.

BTW, Niagra falls is where we goto about two to three times a year because were cheap, and I don't like cruises. (and it's only 3.5 hrs away!)(buell dealer 1hr away, London ON)
