Brushes with the law; most of us have had more than our share of times on motorcycles. Anything crazy happen? jail time? cop just stop to admire? tazed? Be truthful too :)

1. Dec. 20, 2009 - Myself and 7 other bikes got stopped twice in one day. The first cause we were traveling as a group at about 140 (nearly no traffic) and the cop followed us for 5 miles before he made his stop. I didnt see him stop the back 4 guys so I kept going not knowing what happened to the others till I got to a gas station. The second time that day, was by TxDPS who wrote us all tickets for passing a stationary emergency vehicle at 70+ mph. A trooper caused 2 bikes to lock it up and run into each other. I went to court for that one, and even with dashcams and troopers present, I won. The video proved I didnt break a law.

Beginning of the month -

A cop pulled in front of myself and the other riders and continued towards the front of the group and stopped them but since he pulled in front of me I parked across the street. The stop was initiated cause a trooper received a call that there were speeding bikes on the backroads and relayed to local LEO's. No tickets or warnings were issued but three riders with warrants went to jail.

So far in 2010 I have been stopped 3 times with no tickets or warnings....knock on wood.

Oh and I fully respect Law Enforcement and never talk bad about them cause I know when I break a law. Also, I would never run on purpose.

I've only been pulled over once on my Buell. According to the officer my plate wasn't legible from the rear. I got a 'fix it' ticket to make my plate visible.

(I had my licence plate pointed damn near straight up underneath my tail light)

Got pulled Saturday with Oh9Bolt,SV650, and 2 350z.. We were doing a backroad run. Long down hill open road for about a mile in farm land. We open it up to over 90mph. I look up and oh noes a local sheriff comes over the hill right as I come out of the tuck to slow down. We were spread out by atleast 500yards, so the lead Z and Sv650 pass the cop at like 80mph, I was much faster when I saw him. He took forever to pull us over. Takes our license, comes back after I finish my smoke. and says Please dont ride in my county again, go back to where ya came from. No tickets. We left and rode slowly leaving the area. and GOT Super Lucky

Thats such an easy one to get a ticket for too. I know most cops wont even bother with it here in the Dallas area. I ran around without a plate for awhile and had cops driving behind me and didnt get stopped, and I know that wouldnt fly on a car. I have been stopped 3 times since this MONTH alone. This isnt going to be a good year hahaha.

Got pulled over for 43 in a 25 after making a right hand turn from a stop going downhill. 1st week riding. Officer sand go to court and I will give you driving school. Went to court judge says we don't offer driving school pay ticket plus court cost... next

lol ArmyMP09, I swear even though they hate us, we get off easier than cars. I think its because they KNOW a ticket wont get us to slow down. After all, MOST of us didnt buy the bikes to go to and from work.

Your lucky.
First stop riding home to michigan from sc after a couple trips through the dragon early in the day.
about midnight in ohio on my cityx tucked in cause i was freezing dropped to around 50 that night.

officer say's if i tell you how fast you where going i will have to write you for that.
writes us both for 10 over and explains if we show in nc court they will drop it to 9 over no points in nc.
I can't take a chance call talk to the clerk she says if you take defensive driving we will drop to an equipment failure same fine so i took defensive driving again took it once at 17 now 37 .

I hope this summer i don't get any ;)

Here are the other 2 from this month. I was following my wife home on a city street at night and had run through some water. I started to heat up my tires a little (damn shinkos) then the cop stopped me. She gets out and asks if I layed my bike down 20 mins ago, I told her no cause I just got it out of the shop. Over the radio I hear it was a black bike (mine is white). Then she says she pulled me over for swaying back and forth and thought I may be DWI. I told her that I have never seen anyone successfully sway back and forth on a bike while DRUNK and keep it on two wheels. She told me to quit cause thats how accidents are caused...clearly she doesnt ride so I ceased my arguing.

The other one which was on Friday night in a town KNOWN for its cops being "by the book" (Pantego, TX anyone?). I was at a light and started hitting my rev-limiter while a cop was on a traffic stop in a Walgreens parking lot. I take off when it turns green and go 0-speed limit in the matter of 2 seconds. Next thing I see in my mirror is a Tahoe in the next lane pacing me and running tags. He pulls in front of me and (forum user Snareman96) and pulls me over. He tells me he stopped me cause my reg was out and commented on how nice my bike was and we talked a little cause he rides too. Again no ticket.

Again out of the 7 times I have been stopped on my 1125R I was only given one ticket which I beat in court.

I got pulled over and issued a ticket for reckless driving, all because i didnt use my turn signal on the bike, i used my hand to signal my lane change as i was coming to a stop at a red light

however the cop saw it as swerving in and out of trafic and speeding between cars

then when he pulled me over to and asked for my information he asked if i even had insurrance and a motorcycle licence

I think he just hates bikes all together however he did like my helmet that was the only plus thing he said to me

sorry for the bad grammer and spelling

this morning i came upon a cycle-cop in Fort Worth; he had his lights flashing & was stopped on the side of the highway,
oppisite direction, he walked out onto the highway,3 lanes full of cars, and motioned a car in the fast lane over to the side.
And the car actually slowed and parked right behind his bike.

I got pulled over doing 140 and weaving in and out of traffic.... Got a verbal warning and a SWEET BIKE!. It helps to be a LEO (Cough cough)

ok, that didn't really happen because i drive like a sane person :) in CA it's The fact that you have more than 4 motorcycles in close proximity to each other is cause for a stop. we have moving road blocks where the MC Gangs will slow traffic so they can stunt.

21705. Motor vehicles being driven outside of a business or residence district in a caravan or motorcade, whether or not towing other vehicles, shall be so operated as to allow sufficient space and
in no event less than 100 feet between each vehicle or combination of vehicles so as to enable any other vehicle to overtake or pass.

Aside of slowing my traffic, i usually don't stop bikes because A) they run, and B) they usually arn't the cause of collisions.

We usually don't have a problem with bikes but every once in a while they will run. It helps now that we have our new incar cameras. I hit the button and it zooms into the bike then back out. It also records one minute prior. So if I turn on a bike and he runs or I get behind him and he runs... I just stop, replay the video, run the plate, and wait at his house with the ticket. If he is being difficult I will impound the bike until his hearing but that is very expensive. Its so stupid to run. You are going to risk losing your license and possible impound your bike for what, a warning, maybe a $100 ticket if you were being an idiot. God forbid if you crash.

I have a whole bunch of stories but from the other side. Had a couple fatal bike crashes last year, none so far this year. Knock on wood.

I usually don't stop many bikes as I am a local and most of them behave in town. I tell them to take it out in the country if they want to be an idiot.

was tearing up and down the island the other day when a fellow rider going in the opposite direction flashed me, I waved back and appreciated the heads up for 'radar' down the road....

a few hours later and I am heading back down island and there goes that guy again, flashes 'hi' to me and I wave back...swell fella for giving me the heads up again for 'radar'

funny thing was tho, after the first time he flashed me I slowed to a respectable 120kph and was confused when I did not see any fuzz [confused]

same thing after the second time he flashed, wheres the cops [confused]

then if you were around me while I was riding you would have seen the lightbulb go off!!!

the dude on the bike was the cop, explains the nice safety vest and funky headlights flashing and the decked out Beemer he rode....
DOH!

This blonde moment has been brought to you by Buddha!
:D

LOL, Buddha!

I have a quick story, happened quite a while ago though!

I was ripping up a long curving road up a hill on a Nighthawk S. I pulled into my development, and see blue and red behind me....shit. I shut the bike off, and take off my helmet. I was blatantly speeding, no doubt about it. As I'm taking off my helmet, I'm planning on apologizing to the officer for speeding, having a lapse in judgement, etc. So I'm sitting on my bike, holding my helmet, and I hear the cruiser click into gear. He pulls up next to me, and says "it's your lucky day, kid". He busts a 3-point turn, and high-tails it out of there with his lights and sirens on, heading to something much more important than busting a young kid for riding his motorcycle too fast.

I sat there for about 5 minutes, just trying to comprehend what the hell just happened. I almost puked from my nerves!

thats how it needs to be done Lawdog .
so funny BuddaBuell.
i get lots cops following me in my svt cobra and look at me on my buell always thinking the local city PD are waiting for me to do something so they can pull me over . the state troopers here are great they only do their real job (they dont worry about quota or revenue $$ ticket money goes to the county only, not to the highway patrol agency) and are very cool just be respectfull always, never a problem. (warnings only in my cobra, not pulled over on buell ,knock on wood, thankgod).

i get pulled over by the same cop just about everyday when im on my bike . i allways get a ticket too, all bs ones that i win in court, he just likes pissing me off. on a side note he absolutely hates my buddy who runs from him all the time , but i wont run . ever hear the saying dont shit where you eat. so he takes it out on me. i filed a harassment charge against him. hopefuly it stops.

Last time I got pulled over for speeding through some twisty's, the officer asked if I knew why he pulled me over so I jokingly replied "because I wasn't wearing my seat belt!" He didn't find it very funny I got a fat old ticket!!!
