Dude, I LOVE dogs, My dog Zoe is a pit mix and she's amazing.

No matter the bread or size, the dog isn't to blame, it's bad owners who don't train.

(Steps off soapbox)

"she kicked it and now im going to...her" haha trill thats a classic

i really like dogs too. me and my girlfriend go to the humane society sometimes to walk the dogs. i blame the owner too but at the same time im not sure if id feel bad if i crashed into the dog. especially if it screwed up me or my bike in the process. on a somewhat related note i watched my stepdad almost hit a chicken with his harley. That was pretty funny.

Have any of you called your local PD? We have leash laws around here and rather then killing an innocent dog, punish the owner. I have written many leash citations to irresponsible pet owners.

id have to call the state cops or maybe the county sheriff. where i was there is no local PD.

Konarider-First time I ever went down , same thing happened to me,when I was 16.
The dog actually rammed old Honda. Backside of the front tire while I was rolling at about 25 in a neighborhood. I got f...d up- roadrash gnarley on the knees&elbows. I was a new rider& just starting to buy gear.had helmet&gloves, but long sleeves& thin pants didn't cut it.
Man,I couldn't walk for a week after the doctor scrubbed out all that asphalt!!
Several years later another dog tried that same maneuver, but I saw him& gunned it ,left him in the dust on my fz.
Now I'm always watching..for anything.[up]

Ran over a dog once on an Honda XR80R. It ran out in front of me and crossed the road, since i slowed down, then preceded to come back across the road trying to chase me. Well this time I didn't slow down and ran it over. It got caught under my skid plate a drug for a few feet...then when he finally got loose from the skid plate he popped out from under my rear tire making me feel like I was about to be ejected from the bike. From then on the dog would just stare at me when I drove past [smirk]

one of my neighbors walks his two dogs(on leashes) theyre both full grown, 1 is a german short haired pointer(the smart one), 1 is a belgium shepard (not the smart one)

the shepard always gives a good tug on him. the pointer just act's as normal doesn't pay no attention to me.

I've had dog's all my life, dogs that have bitten me,(not play or kindly i will add) and dogs that have not. I was between 6 & 10 at the times the dog bit me. I am 100% for positive reinforcement training and tons of patience. But some dogs do need to learn some lessons the hard way, and there is no dog that will threaten my well being or the well being of my family and be around for too long. they get one second chance.

upthemaiden: I pretty much agree with you about kicking the dog. Dogs are pretty simple. If something unpleasant happens while, or immediately after some piece of behavior, they might not repeat that behavior. If they chase you and miss, and then you go back and do something to them, they're probably not going to put it together.

I'm a dog guy. BUT, if I'm on two wheels (with or without a motor), and a dog comes into the road OR if they're at the side of the road with obvious intent to enter the road as a threat to me--all bets are off. Anything, and I mean anything short of lethal force that I need to do to deter the threat is fair game. My safety outweighs the dog's 100% of the time.
