Budda, he is still very young. You might not think it because they were your friends, but imagine if he was your son or little brother. I don't know anyone that drinks that has never drank and drove. For God sakes I have caught my step son passed out drunk in his bed minutes after he drove home. Mind you I am not condoning this kind of behavior, I would have beat his ass if he was mine.(Step kids are hard ones to raise, and he didn't drive for a very long time.) Kids are dumb. Most guys don't grow out of their adolescent stage for a very long time. You being the almighty wise Budda should know this, come back to civilization and look around. If you want to make things better become a politician and fix our broke ass education system, require all citizens to serve in the military, and make it unbearable to be a non-citizen i.e. exorbitant tax rates, no business privileges, can't make over a maximum wage($10 an hour), basically turn non-citizens into slaves. Until you have worked for your freedom, you don't know what freedom is. Until responsibility is forced on you, most will never take it on or ever really know what it is. Our civilization is doomed, our lower class is growing and our middle class is disappearing, and all of our classes are spawning ignorant uncultured spoiled useless wastes of oxygen. I am sorry if anyone here falls into that category, but it's the truth. Teach your children better, make them earn their place in society. Coddle them and it will be their downfall, it is society's downfall. Not everyone was created equal, if they were there would be no special ed class, or scams that ripped people off, and anyone could be an MMA fighter. Unfortunately, it's not the case. This bullshit in schools these days that say you have to praise all children for their actions no matter how miniscule it is destroying them. Why would we teach that mediocrity is good? Is that how we have become a nation that supports a majority of this world? Is this kind of thinking going to beat major diseases or find better resources and more efficient ways of collecting them? If you want to go Biblical, this is not how to be fruitful and multiply, ok maybe it is any dumb fuck can stick his winky in the warm wet spot, and how hard is it to spread your legs? We should sterilize children at birth.(as long as it is reversible) When they reach maturity, with the right income, health, and intelligence they can obtain a license to bread. Which they could take to the right clinic to have their sterilization reversed. Not only that but if an individual want's to off them self, who are we to stop them? In fact it should be encouraged. Along with the sickly and the dim witted. It is a known fact that depression is hereditary, it would also be a form of gene pool cleansing. I am not saying government should kill the unwanted’s just merely give them a nudge in the right direction. Functional retards should not be given the opportunity to thrive in our civilization, I do not mean the unlearned here, I am talking about the people you beat information into their heads and they just don't get it. There would have to be a time frame on it.(high school should do it) If the individuals can't get a grasp on intelligence by then, any infraction of law should be met with the death penalty. So yes Budda I have gone full circle, give him the death penalty, lets get this gene pool cleaned up. And lets make it fun to watch so we can gain some income off of it, I wouldn't say death race, but at least some kind of fight to the death perhaps some kind of MMA that you can't leave/eat until the other is dead. Bring on the slaves. I just want the midget slaves though, a whole heard of them.
 
tell me you have never drank and drove, or drove on a prescription, or sleepy, or talked on the phone while you drove, or ate food, or... the list goes on. Killing four people is really easy when you let children drive. 18 years of age is not some magical date that you inherit all kinds of wisdom, niether is 21. Alot of people treat these milestones as a time to go crazy and be dumb. I will be the first to admit I was a dumb ass kid, I have learned and will teach others to be more responsible. So in reality since our civiliation will never go to the utopia I described above. It is best to forgive the kid make him attend every last one of the funerals, look their children in the eye and tell them that he killed their parents. Make him repay society for taking away their members, not by putting him in prison, but perhaps the military or some other social work.(possibly to work with kids and tell them how fucked up it is to drink and drive) Make him own his transgression, not hide out in prison and waste his life away.

Nope just live in a state that crucifies DUI offenders, and tired of everyone hating. People do dumb shit. Forgive and make them better, and if it doesn't take crucify. Second offense, off with his head.
 
Sad story. I will just say this....
I pray for the kid that caused the accident. His life must be a living hell in prison. I also pray for all the family's of the victims. Accidents do happen. The young adult did make a horrible mistake. Prison time is mandatory. The amount of time that was imposed in my mind was harsh. It's not like he shot these people in the head.

We as Americans have an epidemic. We need to teach our children that vehicle's... Mixed with any drug/alcohol is considered a deadly weapon in the way of the law.

I agree with that and would add that given the fact that road rage is huge in North America it is a weapon regardless if one is under the influence or not and uses it in a way that threatens others on the road..

I agree with prison time but not 50yrs. Maybe 20ys, but people are dumb throughout their lives. Maybe if he had a long record or a couple DUIs I could understand 50yrs, but that is a long time even for a really bad mistake made once.

If there is more to the story I would like to read it. If I am not mistaken in MI you get 5yrs for manslaughter, so it would add up to 20yrs if all counts were taken.

Walls, nope not related to rrh, I was bored earlier. I truly do believe all that shit I wrote in the stupid long rant though. Kids are dumb and having a stepson that is about that age and that maturity level. I would try to convince him to do some military if his mom wouldn't kill me. I do feel for the dumb ass's family. Even if it was my kid though, if you pull the same shit twice, let them burn.

What about those four families that lost their love ones. Father, husbands, brothers, sons, those families will never be able to see them again.

I feel if your drunk and drive and kill someone due to your lack of responsiblity to control the amount of drinks you had , you should be punished harshly ! Why wait until the 2nd ,3rd or more times before they throw the book at you ? You know you shouldnt drive drunk, so why see how long you can get away with it ? Those innocent victims of drunk drivers didn't choose to die, but that drunk driver chose to risk it and killed someone ! You drive drunk and kill someone , then tuff shit ! Sit in jail and rot !! 50 years for several lives IS NOT LONG ENOUGH !

Well, I don't drink , I don't eat in my car because I don't feel the need too and I use the bluetooth in my car , so yes , I drive clear and focused .

I lost a girlfriend to a drunk driver in 1989 , upon my arrival at the scene , the drunk driver was cursing out my girlfriend ( deceased at the time ) for QUOTE : fucking up his truck when he hit her ! His alcohol level was 3 times the legal limit ! The guy had multiple dwi offenses and received 30 years for it. She was coming to my house to watch some movies and he was on his way to buy some beer for a party, I have NO sympathy for the guy ! Until your life has been effected by a drunk driver, you'll NEVER get it !
 
Who says mine hasn't? My father lost his leg because of a drunk driver.(later killed himself because of the pain and depression it brought) Had multiple friends from school die because of drunk drivers.(on different occasions) I am however closely related to people who have caused accidents when they shouldn't have been driving. I try to stay as forgiving as I can, because the non-forgiving side of me is very vengeful, and not a happy camper. As for you saying that you have never driven when you shouldn't have, you are a lying sack my friend. I am sorry about your girlfriend, shit sucks. It sounds like you may need to work on getting past the anger you still harbor about it though.

Think what you will about my driving habits , that's your right , but if you were to ask any of my friends / family they would back me up. Been driving since 1985 and had 1 accident ( NOT AT FAULT , LADY ON CELL PHONE RAN STOP SIGN AND HIT THE LH SIDE OF MY TRUCK ) and ZERO tickets. I take great pride in that.
As for getting past the anger, it won't happen. As long as people are stupid enough to keep drinking and then driving , i' ll continue to be angry .
If your ever in the D/FW area , we can meet up and you'll see how I am . I'm a pretty boring , laid back non partying dude [smirk]
 
This is a sensitive subject. I am against drunk driving to. It destroy's live's, and family's lives. I have faith our justice system will sort this out. I have to.... otherwise it gets depressing thinking about it. :(
