I'm thinking of removing the Air Box and the rear tired guard on my 01 Blast. However, I'm not sure what the impact would be of removing the air box or how I would go about doing it. Are there any draw backs to removing it and how would you remove it, is it difficult to do?

Also, I'm thinking of removing the rear tire guard as I don't like the look of the plastic, I noticed there are a few screws holding it on, however one is located behind the metal piece holding the right foot peg. Do you have to remove the large metal piece in order to remove the tire guard, or is there another way to do it? Sorry if there's a noobie questions, I just haven't found much information on how to do it.

You can take off the rear tire cover without removing the y-arm. All you need is the L torque key to do this. For the airbox, you can free up a bunch of horse power by removing it. The only thing you have to think about is finding a way to secure the Carb so you don't mess up your intake tube. Keep searching for airbox mods. There are a bunch of threads telling how to do it.
