Tire 240mm ....

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

You need a widened wheel to 8" I believe, and a chain conversion. That is it. The stock swingarm fits a 240mm tire fine. And the rest is just bolt on stuff.

GrandStand Design has a kit but it is really pricey, if you read through the description all you are really getting is a widened wheel and their race chain.

Find someone to widen the wheel many bike shops do it, and then buy a chain kit from Americansportbike.com

Buddha..... econony's a little better than that....:)
240's do-able, just not everybody has the roads we do......:)
a fellow BC'er.......

I love the look of a 240 on an XB.

If i recall... they dont make a 17" 240 tire ( or maybe they do).... but when you have the wheel widened, they also and/or can stretch it out to make it 18". This will give you a larger selection of tires.

As stated above, a 240 fits in a stock swingarm, just need a chain conversion and widened wheel. The stock wheel is only got for up to a 200... and thats pushing it.

Hi, My bike is a customized workshop ... I'll post the photos so they finish,
painting, LEDs, mirrors and skulls airbrush the entire length of the table ...
wait ...:D

Any more info on that bike posted by evlxb???? A build thread perhaps?

I need a new set of bars, and they look like they'd fit the bill!

Hi All ,

New to this Board .....
I have done a 240 Conversion on my 12S with it's existing swing-arm ...

Things to take note : Get yourself a SCG Rear Shock in the meantime. From 180 to 240 is a +- 30 Milimeter hight diffrence... Your rake is twitchy with a standard shock. A SCG sorts that out.
Use Metzler 240/40/18 ....As the other tyres are to high ...
Don't touch the Oil side, as a 240 will fit.
I have welded a 23mm spacer in on the Belt side.
I have 5 mm clearances in my swing arm. Done about 12 000 Kilometers on the conversion.
I have posted photo's on Buell's downunder

I have a 240 and I carve corners better than when I had a 180. I did some modifications to lower the front and rear suspension and raise the subframe and it made it ride excellent. The bike to me use to lean faster with the 180 and use to scare me a lil but with the 240, you feel like you glide the curves. I wouldnt change it back ever. Look at my tire and you will see im using the complete tire to the edge. I couldnt do that with the 180. Many people critize the 240 and never even rode one or even had one. So if your thinking about getting a 240, great choice my opinion. There are several ways to get it done saving money.

by: EVLXB-Come on guys - lets try to be more helpfull. He didn't ask if we thought it would handle better or if we would do it.... he asked how to. I personally like the 240 look .

fishgutz, I bet a 180 cant handle in the rain like my 240 can. I tested this weekend and got rained on riding at 70 mph and it handled excellent. I doubt with the 180 it would handle like that. Most riders chicken out or fall on turns.

Soo if I'm looking for more of a bolt on project. i/e no welding and what not is the grandstand design the thing to get or can all the required pieces be bought (new) for cheaper?
