Just thought it was interesting this came up the first morning back to work after this discussion blew up. I work for the state and a coworker I sit by just told me he's reviewing a hospital request for the state to pay a $72k bill from some kid who crashed his kawasaki ninja. Guy hasn't worked in 3 years. We'll have to do a little bit of research to see if any of you other PA residents have to chip in

I laugh when I see people without gear on, at least a jacket, jeans, and gloves. I'd rather sweat than bleed. I'm sure you have sweet skills so continue to do what you do, it provides me and friends with a good session of jokes and laughs when I see squids. If I wasn't wearing gear in the accident I was in, I would not be typing this for you to read and say what a idiot I am.

09bolt I won't call you an idiot for wearing gear. I wear it sometime but most of the time I don't. By all means if you wanna wear gear do if you're a new ride gear up, but if you're confident in your abilities and fell you don't need to wear gear to be safe more power to you.

I didn't see anywhere in here where you answered frostedFlakeJake's questions about riding experience. I would be interested to know.

To address your original post, I'm not at all questioning your freedom to choose what you do or don't wear when you are riding. You do your thing, I'll do mine. But to state that the choices you make in life, and the consequences of those choices, only affect you just shows your ignorance.

Buellysses- I have been riding for about five years. Yeah I know not really that long. But in that five year I've been on almost every type of motorcycle you can think of and as long as I can touch the ground I can ride it. I'm a short **** about 5'5". It quite funny to see me pull up to a light and only be able to touch with my tip toes if I wanna pit both feet down. I'm pretty good at what do but I'm by far not the best and I don't ride like I am. I hope that info helps clear up my riding experience. And have a great day

I have to rant. Why is it such a problem to people what other people that you don't even know wear while they ride? Are you their ******* mommy. I ride in shorts and shoes with a sleeveless shirt. Who is that hurting? Nobody but me if I wreck. If you have a problem with what someone wears or how they ride get the **** over it.RIDE UR RIDE NOT MINE!!!sorry had the vent

So lets see.. you get on a motorcycle website worrying about what others think and tell us to ride our own ride but you aren't riding your own ride are you? I mean how is doing exactly what you say you hate, going to make things better? If you were out riding your own ride at this very moment then you couldn't hear or see what others say about your attire. Just an FYI: Men don't worry about what others say about their attire but women do...

Here's another thing about the five years riding experience: my riding experience goes back to probably before your parents finished high school. In that 40 years of riding, I've known many sad, and some stupid, stories. Some injuries, fatalities, could have been avoided, some not. Most survivors were wearing gear.

I know I'm not the only one here with that history.

Your five years riding experience is not much longer than I have been on several Buell forums. In that time period, we have read many "squid" rants… then there's silence… then somebody posts a death notice.

I'm sure others can back me up here.

Then we all feel real bad because we tried to save a squid from himself and failed.

Get over yourself.

Yup you're right my mom was 14 when you rode your first bike. And if I die then there will be another sad story for you to be upset about aww. You're such a caring person almost bring a tear to my eye. I am over myself I've actually apologized a couple of times for upsetting people and for me getting frustrated with people. "themselves" is the word you are looking for.

I ride with a friend who is an amazing rider, has lots of gear but just wont ride with them on when we do group rides. We all give him a hard time but its his choice. Then he crashed.

He can walk, he still wont wear his gear, he still rides hard, but every now and then he'll get that feeling in his gut and he'll slow down and move to the back of the pack.

Its your choice what you do in life, but what you choice will affect other people and lets hope you dont have a girl on the back like he did (reason he crashed, broke her wrist), a family and friends that dont love you. So that if you die, no one will give a ****. I personally think im good looking, great body, and love to use my hand and legs. Its your choice like i said, but dont get on here and bitch about other peoples choice to call you a squid...

Its like a ******* vegan telling everyone to stop eating meat cause its kills the animals.
You dont see me telling vegans to stop eating the animals food and eat them instead. Thats why i hate vegans, eat all the grass you want but dont tell me what to do and dont bitch about your choice.
