But you didn't start the argument, ask the questions or get upset with the answers.

I look at it this way, i wear my seatbelt in my car and i wear my gear on my bike. If you choose not to wear a seatbelt in your car or your gear on your bike then don't whine about it when you get road rash or worse. You know the risk by not using safety equipment so don't be surprised if at some point you pay the price. True you can still get hurt with a seatbelt or bike gear but at least your showing an attempt at protecting yourself and your more likely to get more sympathy from others by doing so. Just saying.[smirk]

Okay, I decided to check back in on this one... My DCs aren't gonna cut it, I'm getting boots immediately. I'm not even going to quote that gruesome photo ^^^.

i wasnt suggesting the argument was mine i just used myself as an example. my point is, if you want to wear gear then great, if not, thats fine too. why do people worry about what other people are doing? especially people they dont even know. p.s. i am an organ donor. just saying

I have to ask this question. Kid have you ever had a bad wreck on a motorcycle? If you have and you feel the way you do then that is unfortunate but also your right. If you haven't had a wreck yet, my guess is you will have a change of heart. Pain is a very effective motivator.

I also believe that decision making is paramount to sucess in surviving. Only the strong survive and often its the strength of their decisions that makes it possible.

Good luck.

There's a bad teaching out there that experience is the best teacher.

That is wrong. Often the exam is over before the lesson has begun.

Somebody else's experience is the best teacher.

Darwin: adapt or die.

I started on dirt bikes at the age of 5..... In the 17 years of racing ive seen alot of grusome sites dealing with not wearing proper gear. It was instilled in me from a young age to wear your gear and I will preach it till the day I die........but at the same time you don't have to listen. I under stand that some have a wish to leave this wonderful world a little earlier than others and you have that right so I will graciously end my post here...........

only thing i have to say is i would not be saying this right now if it werent for the gear i was wearing 3 months ago when i crashed my xb9r at about 65-70mph. I was not wearing full gear but was clothed up pretty well. Shoes, jeans, t-shirt/sweater/carhart, A* riding gloves and a carbon full face helmet. I made a thread on it after it happened and my shoulder is still healing its self closed, no skin graft but it takes one hell of a long time to grow back the skin and flesh that got ripped off me in that area. Heres the link to the pics of me and the bike Bike crash

i do now
got the same helmet (new one of course)
spare pair of gloves
just got A* riding boots a week ago (no more work boots)
have a padded mesh jacket untill i get the money for a leather one
and still saving for proper pants
and i gear up on every ride but when i go to wawa on lunch during work but still wear helmet gloves and jacket.

I have been down granted I really didn't get hurt besides some cuts on the inside of my leg from god only knows what. It still doesn't matter to me I ride in what I feel like riding I I own a jacket I have 3 pair of gloves and 2 helmets granted one is black and pink. But still if you walk through life playing it safe all the time how much fun is that. Go ride the hell out of your bike if you wanna wear your gear more power to you but if someone decides not to wear their gear a lot of the time leave them be it's their personal choice. Don't be a preacher trying to convert every single person in the world to your riding religious beliefs. It just pisses them off. Like it did me yesterday and I'm sorry about that truly am. But don't just walk up to a random stranger who is getting on a motorcycle and start on about riding with gear on. If it's your friend or family or even a new rider talk to them about it.

Like I mentioned above just because I or even someone else chooses to pass on the benefits of wearing proper gear.......... Doesnt mean you or anyone else has to listen. I myself have respect for my self & family and will do everything I can to protect myself and my families well being when I ride. This is one of those never ending battle between common sense and people doing what they want just because they can......... My common sense wins every time.

Darwinisim at it's best!!!!

And just because you think your smarter doesn't mean that you need to educated the rest of the world. If your a teacher then good do your job in a school. If your a preacher save it for church or what ever you go to. Out on the street keep it to your self. You do have the freedom of speech so I can't stop you. Just try to gauge their experience level before you start doing your street Jesus thing

Sak1782 I really like those in white look sharp if I had a pair I'd wear them anytime I wanna ride hard
