I know where you are coming from wall, but a depiction of the point, albeit shocking. I think it is great that we can have this discussion, but I'll say it is MUCH more pleasant now that tempers have soothed a bit.
I'm completely in the same arguement as some on here when they say "...wear what you want, it is your right." I am ok with that. However, along with the choice of not wearing gear, you are also choosing to be labeled with the moniker "squid" (althought it is insulting to cephalopods
). I have only recenly started to wear my jacket all of the time, and it is because the last couple weeks have seemed like open season on Buells. I have read many of the testimonies and realized that it is much more than my skill I have to watch out for. While on the bike, I have to be responsible for every other driver's skill, whether they are old, young, inexperienced, half-blind, half-deaf, or just an *******. I determined that it was much better for everyone if I geared up and sweated a little more. If you don't want to wear your gear, that is a choice, but recognize the other consequences of that choice (i.e. being called a squid).
Just realize, even if you happen to convert all of us on the board that you are not a squid, there are two other things you have to consider, and I'm not trying to come off harsh (but I'm sure I will). There are many other riders not on this board who share some opinions with both sides of this arguement. Second, it is not your riding skill that will hurt you, it is your arrogance surrounding that skill that will potentially kill you. Even the people that have ridden 20+ years will tell you...there is always something more for you to learn, or something you didn't anticipate happening. I wish you well, and I pray that nothing happens to you.
Some people on here don't realize this, but it needs to be said. When you bought a Buell (or wanted to), and decided that you wanted to get on here to talk about Erik's achievements and wonderful designs, you became part of a brotherhood. There aren't any dues, and we all may have differences of opinions, but we all watch each others' backs. If one of us goes down, we all feel it, and we just want to watch out for our "Brothers in Buell"
