I'm going to keep it short and sweet...There isn't a decision one makes that doesn't at least affect/effect one other person. I had respect for both sides of this discussion until the political **** got brought up. BTW brightbuell, the Dems are the ones trying to be everyones mommy. Get a clue then come to the discussion. Kid, bright...next time you try and have a battle of wits, try and come armed. Both of you sound like high school drop-outs and your grammar is horrendous at best, just revealing your ignorance in one other way.

I wish ill on no one, but I have been down the road a couple of times. Since I am 30, now I wish I had listened to a couple more people with more experience in life when I was 23. As my mom said "You have two ears and one mouth. Hence, you are supposed to listen twice as much as you talk." Think about it

Bright, Kid...many others have said it, and I am going to exercise my right as well...squids

But their is a difference between someone like me and someone that goes out with all their gear on and rides like he's the only person on the road that person is a squid even with his gear on. My point is just because someone doesn't wear the gear doesn't make them a squid it's how they ride and how much respect they give to the other people on the road. If one day someone the usually gears up for a ride doesn't he wouldn't be a squid. Your free to wear what you want when you ride. But ride like you have some common sence and and be safe no matter what you wear. If you do that then why should a person with out gear be consider a squid. He is being safe and attentive to his surrounding.

who is a squid and who isnt depends on the person who is using the term.dont let it bother you.i have been riding almost twice as long as youve been alive.do your self a favor and gear up always.trust me

Christiannb I'm not a dem or a rep. I've read the constitution and I understand what is say and take it or what it say. I don't take one part of the constitution and appy it when it works for me and not another. I'm a constitutionalist. If my grammar is off sorry I'm not as smart as you are and can pick out every single mistake. How is this a battle of wits? It was just me stating the fact that a squid isn't someone the ride with out their gear it's how they ride. If you wanna have a battle of wits the call a talk show like the Wilkow Mijority on Sirius patriot 125. He has a great show I like listening to him when it comes to ecconomics. Very intelligent person. How about Mike Church who is a strong believer in the constitution. Have a nice day Christian.

You started out saying you wanted to vent and, presumably, that was okay.

And you asked a question.

So, I respond with an answer that is also a vent. I expect that should be okay as well.

Apparently, you're now upset that people responded and, heavens, disagreed. Now, you want to bring in your misunderstanding of your constitition as if that has any significance here.

You're a hypocritical idiot. Get over yourself. Don't ask questions if you can't take the answers.

Squid 1294 up, 113 down
A young motorcyclist who overestimates his abilities, boasts of his riding skills when in reality he has none. Squid bikes are usually decorated with chrome and various anodized bits. Rear tyres are too wide for their own good, swingarm extended. Really slow in the corners, and sudden bursts of acceleration when a straight appears. Squids wear no protection, deeming themselves invincible. This fact compounds intself with the fact that they engage in 'extreem riding'--performing wheelies and stoppies in public areas. Squids wreck alot. Derived from 'squirly kid'

We were suddenly passed by a chromed out R1 and then when we rounded the bend, we saw the squid wrapped around a tree, he'd probably be alive if he was wearing a helmet.

2. squid 664 up, 90 down
An extremely rare animal with a short lifespan. Usually a new sport bike enthusiast with the reasoning of a lunatic, whom you might see thrashing on an R1 wearing sandals, shorts, and a tee.
When found lying motionless on the pavement, this creature transforms itself into a stream of blood, exposed flesh, and broken limbs. Hence the squid moniker.

Stupid
Quick
Underdressed
Imminently
Dead
Did you see that guy leave the showroom on the R6? Did you see what he was wearing? What a moron. That Squid.

4. squid 243 up, 76 down
'Squid' is a contraction of "Squirrelly Kid", and comes from So Cal racers who were also involved in the Surfer culture.

Though the term is now widely used to describe street riders of questionable cornering skill, questionable judgement in demonstrations of horsepower and braking, questionable judgement in the protective clothing worn, and very questionable judgement in his/her friends, the meaning was actually developed at the racetrack.

Back in the day before trackdays (an organized event to allow anyone with a motorcycle and the price of admission to gain familiarity with a racetrack and learn to ride faster, more safely than on the street) were common and new racers frequently had no track experience - hence their unpredictable behavior and unsteady lines led to them being labelled "squirrelly", as unpredictable surfers (or surfing conditions or surfing equipment) were also called.

From there, the term made it to the canyons of Southern California (a popular means to risk one's hide while demonstrating riding skill at speeds well over the posted limit), then out to the rest of the world that reads about So Cal in magazines and apparently strives to be just like So Cal.
"I really hate dealing with the street squids riding over their heads in the 'A' group at Buttonwillow."

"That trackday org is all about getting money from the squids who don't know better."

"Yeah, there was another squid taken off Palomar in an ambulance this morning."

5. squid 244 up, 84 down
A young man on an incredibly over powered motorcycle, wearing nothing but a helmet.

The term derives from what is discernable from his corpse:
A helmet with stringy fleshy bit dangling from the bottom.

6. SQUID 165 up, 35 down
One who buys an R1 as their first bike, and logs onto a non-stunting sportbike forum asking how to wheelie said bike.
Porchito: Hey guys I just bought this R1 (Don't worry I'm not a squid, I'm mature my car has a v-8)... anyways how do I wheelie this thing?

7. Squid 109 up, 56 down
Originally derived from the manner of movement of a squid...shooting off at speed, almost stopping to turn and then shooting off again, similar to a inexperienced motorcyclist.
"I was trying to pass the squid, but on corner exits he just stood it up and blasted away."

Where did I explain my understanding of the constitution. I'm
not upset I was just arguing my point. My point being that if someone wants to ride in shorts it doesn't make them a squid it's how they ride.

I ride to protect others from their own idiototic behavior

What does this mean?

I've read the constitution and I understand what is say and take it or what it say. I don't take one part of the constitution and appy it when it works for me and not another. I'm a constitutionalist.

The problem with this is that the constitution was written in very vague language intentionally. If it was as simple as reading and applying, we wouldn't have a Supreme Court.

I support your decision to ride without gear, but regardless of whether you ride within your limits or not, it is very, very unwise. I would ask that you please reconsider your position and change your habits before they impact you, your family, the car you crash into, and your financial network in a negative way. As someone who spent years working in trauma, I can tell you that you can never be mentally prepared for the pain of a severe motorcycle crash.

I think the problem that we all have is that what you do reflects on motorcyclists everywhere. There are a majority of people in the world who know nothing about the sport, and when you choose to operate a vehicle with insufficient protection, it informs them that this is both acceptable and preferable.

Octo what I mean by that is I expect people to cut me off and make poor decision while driving their cars around me I'm always anticipating for someone to swerve into my lane. So I ride to keep people safe from their own negligence. Same when I drive my semi.
No matter how big or small the vehicle your in control of someone won't see you.

Also it's the supreme courts job to inforce the constitution not interpret it to their understanding of it "The judicial Power shall extend to all Cases, in Law and Equity, arising under this Constitution, the Laws of the United States, and Treaties made, or which shall be made, under their Authority; —to all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls; —to all Cases of admiralty and maritime Jurisdiction; —to Controversies to which the United States shall be a Party; —to Controversies between two or more States" that's article 3 section 2. Also in article 3 section 1 it says nothing granting the supreme courts the power of interpretation. But yes the constitution is very vague

Kid, your family (parents in particular) might tell you they've accepted the possibilities of what could happen and are okay with whatever may come, but I've heard this so many times and seen when someone has had something go horribly wrong and the family is devastated because that was their blood. As a son, brother, father, and uncle I know I couldn't do that to my family, h*ll I know I couldn't do that to my friends or my coworkers. Try to remember there are more people that care about you than just your family, it shouldn't take a funeral to figure that out.

The fact that you're 23 and think you have more responsibilities than "75%" of other kids your age makes me wonder what other kids your age you're actually around. I'm 22 and I've worked with people that assume they have responsibilities, I'm sure others on this forum have also, so I'm giving you the same amount of credit I give to everyone.

Now, we all know the feelings for both sides and we aren't going to agree. So, let's drop the BS and move along to helping one another again.

Very wise my friend. I didn't mean to piss anyone off I was just wanting to voice my opinion and if I did I apologized but I'll still ride how I want and you can call me squid but hey it's a free country
