Want to buy IAC

Buellxb Forum

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

Cold weather may affect the error 34 issue. Now it is cold here in Seattle. Cold air has bigger density so same gap passes more air causing RPM raising so IAC valve wants to reduce the hole gap even more and error 34 appears.

I noticed error 34 mostly happens at cold morning commute time, and does not appear at warm afternoon time.

Oh yes, what a classic!

Normally I feel a bit guilty for using a thread to bulls#!+, but seeing as this things already off the rails. How ya been john? Any good rides lately? Getting cold out your way yet? 28 for a low here tonight!

thread so far off the rails cody let's just completely destroy any vestige of its originality whatever the hell that was. always enjoy checking in with you and getting caught up on latest activity. weather here this fall has just been incredible. cloudless skies...cool nights..hot sun...temps mid 70's...absolutely perfect riding. i live for this time of year plus october is my birthday which is a holiday here in AmishLand, PA
PS-cody...forgot to mention. we don't get a hard frost here till right before thanksgiving but if you're seeing overnite temps in the upper 20's out there in NE now...you might experience error code 34 which typically corresponds to increased air gap and erratic idling. something to do with air density and surface tension i believe.

I'll keep an eye out for error code 34 for sure! Would be a strange occurrence on my 2007, but I'll watch out just the same. Due to the cool weather ill be adding a mix grape seed oil, seafoam, and anise extract to both oil and fuel to help her run smooth!
Happy birthday btw.
We've still got some warm days to come. I have seen quite a few years that getting the cycle out on new years isn't totally crazy (60's). but it's not uncommon for 20's this time of year.
I agree fall is great riding. I've got to watch for the white tails though. Sw IA ( directly across the Missouri River from me and where I was born and raised) has some of the biggest whitetail deer anywhere.

Happy Friday to all!

cody: anus extract/grape seed oil/seafoam? please expound on the benefits as time permits. i'm still running a mixture of 2 quarts Castor Bean oil to one tank of gasoline @ each fill-up as per the mighty GloomShadow....but your concoction has me moist with anticipation.

Removed the intake manifold. I have not found anything wrong with gaskets

But the flanges are bended and have saddle shape

I do not know if this is the reason of leakage. I also do not know why they are bended. Maybe because of they bend after some time under clamping force and heat. Or maybe because of I tried to install those thick blue James Gaskets and bent the flanges.

Either you mucked up the new intake seals when you installed them or you need to spend some time with all that fancy schmancy engineering equipment of yours to insure the mating surfaces between your intake manifold and heads aren't warped.

I'd revisit the intake seals.

Guess the mating surfaces need attention?

I think about something more reliable and trouble free. Maybe Honda. I even do not consider EBR 1190 because of I feel it is even less reliable then latest generations of Buell XB and needs more maintenance. All I want is to put fuel in it and ride it, I don't want to waste my time fixing the crap. There are much more fun activities than wrenching the screws.

Sheba Meaty tender sticks. She likes chicken and salmon. I got them at the mom and pop, main street killing Wal-Mart.

you know i've always been a big fan of yours and in keeping with that theme wanted to thank you for supporting your local merchants and not Sh#tMart. word!

Good luck with that dream, man.
1) It's a motorcycle, not a space bound satellite.
2) It's about a 10 year old motorcycle
3) With some miles on it
4) That's been heavily modified
5) By someone who is not a professional mechanic
6) That same someone looks for issues well before they actually are an issue (My opinion...)

If you had a 10 year old "Honda" with the same miles and you modded it as much as you have your pretty XB, I wonder how "reliable" it would be? I'm not blaming you for the problems you have, but you can take apart something only so many times.

"Reliable" to me means "Does it start when I hit the yellow button?" Yes? Then it's reliable.

TPEHAK: You aren't doing "maintenance", you're doing "repair". Whether it's needed or not is your opinion. My 2¢ is: Do not dwell on your super minor issues, surface energy, seafoam magic, or putting abrasives directly into your cylinders. Listen to the good advise you are asking for on here, and just fix the damn thing and ride it. Still don't like it? Sell it and move on.

Why the EBR hate? Do you have any evidence the late model EBR's have any issues at all? Understandably the very first ones off the line had some (Starter 0-ring, dash?) easily fixed items, but I'm unaware of any reliability issues with the later ones. Especially for a low production, hyper sport bike with a "legitimate race engine" (Erik's words).

Edit: And peanutbutter filled pretzel bites FTW!
