Came across this tonight...

http://www.gixxer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63273

It seems like it's the same in the motorcycle world as it is in the car world. American muscle bashing Japanese drivers and vice versa, Honda drivers bashing drifters and vice versa, Sport bike riders bashing Harley riders, Harley riders bashing everyone else and vice versa....... It all gets kinda old. We all know that whatever you happen to own at the moment is the best .. no questions 'bout it.

Rant over.

i can tell you right now... i have a mate on a cbr600 who will put me to the wall every turn and every straight. but i can smash most of his mates... most times its the rider that makes the bike what it is and what is can be.

the buell for me is good handling and fun. simple! but i can tell you now, that i have swapped bikes with mates and chewed them up on their own bike againts them on my buell. they are good, but we do have limits.

But did anyone see how old that post was???? 2005

go figure it was while Buell was still in the infant stages. there are more options available currently than even imaginable in '05.

Plus this throws me for a loop to the fact that Buells are snails and unable to hold their own. Unless Eslick is being lapped, :D

Do I see a honda, Kaw, or Suz, Nope just clear skies.

ive converted 2 i4 riders since i got my buell now theyre response is the same as mine when people talk **** :)

If it has two wheels and a motor,I want to ride it and own it. I knock the riders not the bikes cause I would own each and every kind if had the money.

I dont care what you ride , Buell, Honda , Schwinn , Yamaha , Huffy it's all about the joy of being on 2 wheels . Yea , Buells may not have alot of top end and be old school technology , but I chose this brand for its unique look , powerplant and the fact the man whos name is on the airbox actually gave a crap about what his brand was , not some corporate board saying heres how it's gonna be ! Besides , everytime I ride my XBs , the other guys are the ones turning their heads back to check out the Buell ! NUFF SAID !

To be fair, I don't get upset about it because they pick on our bikes for the same reasons we pick on HD bikes. "who the hell wants a 700lb 1500cc bike that only makes 80hp?!", only to them it's "who the hell wants a 400lb 1200cc bike that only makes 103hp?!". They're just used to something different. Granted we've all had more experiences with HD and understand the problems with them better than sportbike riders understand Buells, but I do kinda wish that Erik had never started calling them 'American Sportbikes' because all he's doing is opening the window for comparisons to bikes with an extra 50hp and an extra 50mph on the top end. We understand the bikes, but I don't expect everyone else to.

As far as the same kind of people riding Buells as japanese bikes, there's some cross over, but you definitely draw a certain crowd when you're selling one of the fastest vehicles in the world. I think to own a Buell you've gotta be willing to accept that there are going to be times that you'll be across people who are faster than you, and will probably give you a hard time for it, so you get a crowd that's a little more flexible, and that's definitely a good thing. I think there are way less ******** on Buells than there are japanese sportbikes, but sportbikes in general are ******* territory so I don't assume we're exempt.

I understand the logic for japanese sportbikes. I planned on buying a gsxr750 before I picked up the xb9, but I always get distracted. The numbers are there, but it just doesn't have the same appeal to me. It's fast, but there's more fun to be had than that. I'm hoping to pick up a 2nd bike this summer, but it's probably going to be a supermoto, which will have less than half the hp of the my XB and I assume is going to be way more fun than a new gsxr. After that I may start looking for a gsxr to make a fighter out of, but even then it will probably be a 91-95, because there's more to a good bike than having the newest/fastest. All that being said, we'll still be having a fun time while they're sitting at home with a suspended license, inflated insurance, or standing on the side of the highway staring at their 180mph rocket that just flipped over 45 times because they got cocky and tried something stupid, again.

I like all bikes I don't care what it is. My BUELL may not be as fast as a gsxr but it is not a dime a dozen bike that looks like every thing else on the road. I may act childish at times but I am not 12 and I'm not gonna get into some pissing contest about it.
Besides my dad is bigger than your dad and my dad can beat up your dad and my dads' gun is bigger than your dads.:D

thats what you get from a gixxer forum. :D I just joke because all my friends ride cbr's. But seriously i wonder about the gsxr crowd.

I can understand the Kawmazukida riders bashing the Buell. They are young, inexperienced and just doing the “trendy” thing. They just don't know any better.
[confused] What I don't understand is the crap we get from Harley riders. If there is anyone who should understand that there is more to a bike than what is on the spec sheet, that a machine can have a soul, it should be them. But, I guess they are just old, inexperienced and doing the “trendy” thing. :p

its funny what you can find on gixxer boards, guys putting nos energy in their fuel tanks and whatnot. :p

in the jap world gixxers are fast as hell, I get that, but they are a trendy bike more than a performance bike. people tend to buy them because the gixxer is the cool thing to have, if they want performance they tend to pick up a yamaha or kawi and if they want reliability they tend to buy honda.

but oddly where I live I don't really get too much flack about my buell, people around here think they are cool some even look at them in awe, just maybe not for them. I'm fine with that, pick the bike that is good for you.
Buell fits my personality and riding style, I'll add a jap bike when I can afford another bike. but I'm like many of you guys, its about being on two wheels and I would own 20 bikes if I could afford it each one a little different.

Hey WALLS. I had a Huffy! You saying a Huffy is no good! I bet I can ride a wheelie longer than you on your Diamondback! Haha...just kidding, but I really did have a Huffy, and it got the same attention as my Buell. These threads are one of those things that will never end. It's too fun to see what people will say with absolutely nothing to back it up.

i think buells (lightning for instance) are just wayy more practical for street riding. This after owning a 954rr. I can actually flog the throttle without breaking sound barriers. lol

I've always liked suzukis, but that's because I love 750s and they're the only ones who can make a decent one(plus I like the drzsm more than the wrx). If honda would make a 750rr already I wouldn't give it a second thought. As far as unfriendly street motors go, that early 600rr motor was known for being nothing but top end, which is the only reason I'd be hesitant to pick one of them up.

i have little suzuki drz110. my freinds and I have wheelie contests in the backyard with that thing. friggin blast. been crashed numerous times but still chuggin'.

been crashed numerous times but still chuggin'.

I plan to beat the piss out of an SM when I pick one up. the first thing it's going to need are some axle sliders and hand guards and I'm gonna go bounce it off of everything I can find.

As far as I'm concerned, the only overwhelming reason to ever buy a japanese bike over something else is so you don't have to feel bad abusing it :D

I don't mind riding my Buell hard on back roads, but I do my best not to mistreat it.
