I throw a small bunch of zip ties in my bag. Strangely, they become useful on occasion. First aid kit great idea. Checking misc bolts or nuts for tightness is a good idea. 2 days ago I heard a strange noise with my Uly at idle. I found one of the bolts that secure the pannier frame almost all the way out. Tightened it up and the noise is gone. I checked all the rest and they were all tight. I'd hate to be in the Middle of Nowhere, Nevada and lose one of those bolts.

Sturgis of the North sounds fun. I'll look it up. I will make it to Americade in Lake George, NY though. It's only 10 miles from our camp in Lake Luzerne, NY.

Yeah Americade sounds better. This is just a bunch of small town bar hopping with a few events and a street dance at the end.

Well sorry for reopening an old thread but I'm exactly 7 days out from take off and getting way to damn excited! After a misshap last sunday with a little over confidence going into a corner and an argument with a small patch of gravel I came out pretty lucky with a busted mirror, shifter lever, and my favorite sweatshirt due to a blood stain from a little bump on the elbow. I was pretty shook up right away being this close to taking off but I already had a mirror and ebay helped me to a new in the bag shift lever for $40, so I'm back to excited. Also finally got lucky and found some hand guard mounting posts on ebay so my $10 purchase off of a parted out Uly isn't going to go to waist. The bike should be all ready to go for a little test ride/camp this weekend at a local kickball tournament. It seemed like so much stuff right away to buy but I think I've finally bought everything I need to actually do this.

After that winded update I do have one question...After I hit my destination the real fun is going to start and I really don't have a Route back. What do you guys suggest for must see places/must ride roads in Northern CA, ID, MT areas? Anything that you guys would consider as a cannot miss?
