Whats the dumbest thing you ever did or saw on a bike? I stopped halfway down a steep hill and put the side (kick) stand down a slotted drain cover and got trapped between the bike and the kerb and had to slide my foot out of my boot to get out from under it! lol (man it was hard pulling that sucker backwards uphill while lining up the stand with the slot at the same time!!) also years ago i worked at a kawasaki dealership, one day a yamaha LC350 with 2 chaps on pulled onto the forecourt and when they stopped neither of them put a foot down to hold the bike up and landed flat on their face! luckily only about 20 people witnessed it!! ha ha ha :D

Well, I crashed 7 times in a weekend when I was 7, had cooling fin burn scars on my leg for years.

When I was probably 12ish I did half a back flip on a bicycle....

And the most recent, not long after I got the Buell, got off and I could have sworn I put the stand down, but apparently didn't....caught it just in time to just snap a peg and my self esteem

I had just gotten new tires put on the bike and it was one of those rare semi-warm days in winter so I thought I would go scrub in the tires. I was anxious to ride, so my dumb-ass gave it a lil bit too much throttle out of my works garage entrance, went over a slick manhole cover, and slide too the other side of the road...security guards gave me crap for weeks.

One time I was wearing a base ball cap. It flew off my head, so I tried to catch it. Ended up jerking on the bars and down I went at about 15-20 mph. Lucky I was riding a honda and only one person saw me. No damage to the bike, but it was my buddy that saw me. Never will live that down

Twenty six yrs ago I went for my motorcycle road test on my gsxr 750....failed miserably! Went back that night by myself to practice the course for next time, fell over where the dots where painted on the ground for the cone weave, got pinned under the bike for some time. Thank god it wasn't the muffler side, finally got my ass out from under the bike and kept at it. Went to take the test next time and aced it on the old gsxr, instructor said he had never seen anyone pass on a sport bike before...

2 things tony:
1-left home for 3 day cycle trip with a dead battery on a ulysses.
2-wanted to see how far i could go on reserve....in the middle of nowhere Pennsylvania of course.

Rode nearly off the side of a motorcycle trailer, tipped over the side and was caught by my wife and my mother. .. (they caught the bike too). Only spectators were some guy driving by and my father, who offered no help.

This is a happy thread, its making me smile!! :applause: and John do you remember how far you got on reserve? Sorry to high jack my own thread! lol

tony: was on my 2007 bmw r1200rt a few years ago. just absolutely ignorant stunt to pull. look at the pics and you'll see that PA really is one of the most beautiful states on the east coast of america but when you get a few miles north of the state capitol of harrisburg from there onto the new york state line it defines desolate. i babied and babied and coasted and babied it some more....thinking about 65 miles or so. got a tow approx. 2 miles to a mom and pop gas station. just ignorant plus i'm sure the fuel pump loathed me as well.beemer.jpgPicture 022.jpgPicture 024.jpg

Funny stuff here.
1.5 years ago during my rebuild, I was lying down wrenching and knocked the bike off the boot leg stands I made. In slow motion it tipped over on top of me. In a panic I caught it and held it bench press style. I know I was hollering for help like a crazy man because 2 neighbors came running over. The door was locked so no one was able to help me. Pure adrenaline was the only aid I had. I got the bike up and without a scratch somehow. I think it took 10 min to get up off the ground when it was all said-n-done. The neighbors thought I was being attacked by an animal. Na, just BUELLa...

1st story- had three huge hills in the back roads of GA the first one of you hit at 80mph in a 91 Honda accord the front of your car would hover before it touched down. So I had a 2001 kawasaki zr750s and I thought hitting it at 100mph on a bike with way less weight than a car was a good idea! Well it wasn't well my front end went up so fast I saw the sky and felt like I was coming down on my back. So I let go with my feet and went to let go of the bars when I saw pavement again! Stopped the bike as fast as i could turned around and went home"very slow" where I Sat shaking on the couch.....

Not as spectacular as some of you, but definitely dumb.... I had to remove the front fairing from my Firebolt to fix something and when I reassembled everything I put the front turn signals facing the rear. I didn't notice it till later that day after Id been riding around.

2nd near death story- 2007 xb12r went to dmv after moving back home had an amazing s-curve on another back road in GA you could hit it at 80mph and power out around 90mph what a rush..... Well on this morning bam I went to enter and as I was looking through the corner gravel all the way across the road I know I was at my 80mph entering speed.... I try to stand the bike up as fast as possible before hitting the gravel web pesto speed wobble off the side of the road which is covered in morning dew 10 feet before the tree line where they are working with rebar.... My bike manages to come back to me I get back on the road midway through the corner, park I the first driveway where I get off the bike looked back and wonder how I pulled that off? At which point I took a knee because I nearly passed out.......

LMFAO :tongue-new:

was trying to find one of my posts from a couple of years ago. When I find it I'll link it. Scores real high on the 'stupid list'. Definitely a case of what happens when you let stupid out of the cage. One of those that usually begins with watch this, but the only one listening was me.

Found it, post #23 or 24 or somewhere in there

I was wearing jeans that were too long. Because they were too long the bottoms were worn out and had long cotton strands hanging and a few holes worn through. I stopped at a light and went to lift my foot off the peg to put down and stop.....well.... my pant leg was stuck to the peg. It must have looked hilarious.

I was already committed to leaning to my left to put my foot down. Gravity was doing its job so it was too late to try and lean the other way. I desperately tried to jerk my foot free but couldn't and just slowly went down. My pant leg was still stuck on the peg as I was under the bike. I managed to get the bike up and rip myself free.

Lunatic, I live in a great neighborhood. I still don't like people seeing the crazy $hit I'm up to. Besides the stands I have other redneck contraptions I use to work on my bike. I have a home made chain hoist constructed of 4"X4"s I had laying around. Very functional but equally as bootleg as the stands I had the bike resting on when it fell. The bike's on the stands right now, steering head bearing and the second nail I've picked up in the past year...

I had a 125 kawasaki dirt bike I took to a friend's trails through the woods. I was following him and I went into a u-turn, which was sandy. Well somehow I killed it. So I jumped on the kick starter and when it started I gave it hell. Well the front end came straught up and i couldnt control it. I was just along for the ride. Went off the trail and head butted a tree. Thank goodness i was wearing my helment. This was my first and only 2-stroke

I high sided an SV650 coming out of work, pulled on to the main road, opened it up a bit and wallop straight over the top.
Id passed my test a week earlier, the bike was brand new, id only had it 27 hours and put 26 miles on it.
I probably wasn't even going 10 miles an hour when it flipped.
£1200 worth of damage and a Smith fracture to the right wrist, wife was not happy

I got a brand new Kawasaki ZX1100 EFI and took a trip to lands end in cornwall and back to run the bike in all in one day, slow down and fast back, sunny day fun fun fun! next day was knackered so i stayed local nice and slow on my little Kawasaki 2 stroke trail bike, riding past a pub i saw this woman and man she was stunning!!! BUT i didnt see the car stop in front of me! bang i hit it slid up the tank kneecapped both knees on the handlebar lever clamp bolts and done my nuts good and proper on the filler cap! She looked at me as if to say what a tosser!! ha ha ha So remember LOW speed kills!..... your GOOLIES!! ha ha ha...... and John (Lunatic) that is one beautiful place you live in! i love it!!
