Hey, has anyone ever wrecked doing a wheelie? I sure came close today...12:00 came WAY faster than I was expecting. I also spun the back tire once in colder weather while I was doing a wheelie (unintentional)! I have done that on my dirt bikes before, but it is not the same one the street! haha. Just wanted to see if anyone else has had any close call, or even dumped it.

One time when I first got my bolt I tried to burn the tire a little. I didn't think about how hot it was and how much traction I actually had. I was up on the bars and it still tried to buck me off the back. I past 12:00 and I reached back with my leg and kicked the bike back forward again. I haven't tried anything like that since. [sad]

Egads!! I've only pulled the wheel up on my bike 2 or three time accidentally through hard acceleration.

I'm too afraid of breaking my favorite posession to intentionally pull wheelies.

Dave - Good call on the Ninja Kick back into a save wheelie angle.

I was about to bail too! My poor baby! She was MAD at me after that. I had to whisper sweet nothings in her intake for hours.....

"Oh sugar lips, I'm so sorry for being a meany-face to you. I'll NEVER ever treat you like that again." Hugs and Kisses!!!

I'm like midnight82, I've pulled up the wheel on hard acceleration. Not so much fun. She's still relatively new to me so I'm still a bit afriad of her tenacity. I do enjoy the looks on my ricer friends faces when they see me still with them though.

Man, wheelies are one of my favorite things about this bike! Huge power, short wheel base...its the perfect equation. I clutch up every chance I get. But she is an unforgiving beast, so I understand the healthy respect.

I've been wheelieing a little lately also, but what about cops...a friend of mine just got busted for careless driving I believe for pulling one. Anyone else have problems with the law and wheelies?

I live in NJ btw...

I wheelie all the time. Mostly clutch ups in second gear. I'm starting to get the hang of it. No close calls here yet except a few badly timed clutch launches in different weather that threw me right up into the balance point instead of gradually getting there.

pulled a couple but landed hard on my twig and berries, had to get off bike and take a breather. still not natural to me.

My wipeout last year was because of a wheelie.

Too much gas, bad foot positioning (slipped off the peg, need better boots) landed me on my hands and knees sliding through an intersection watching my bike do cartwheels.

I would advise against it. Just a thought.

I used to wheelie all the time. Till I started hearing a little rattle not too long ago and discovered my front exhaust brace was broken. So no wheelies till the new one gets here:(.

Buells are beasts when it comes to clutch ups. But ill be damned if this thing can do a power band wheelie. Iv had the nose just barely pick up and then set back down. My old 600 I4 would power wheelie thru 1st and 2nd like cake.

My fav wheelies on my Buell are the running hard thru first shifting into 2nd and letting the wheel float as long as you'd like :D

I also hear the XB9's wheelie mutch better than the 12's

I dont like doing wheelies too much. But last weekend I was riding two up with my wife and hit 2nd pretty hard and up she came about 9:00 o'clock. I kept my composure and rode it for a sec or two and slowly let out and she landed nice. It was all pretty smooth. Friends of ours on an I4 were behind us and he said it looked really cool from behind. I dont recommend two up wheelies though....not very safe.

Bought my XB9 wrecked from the previous owner going out the back-door. Tore up stuff, tail, pipes, bars, seat, muffler, pegs, buddy peg, and bracket, etc. The frame pad on right side saved frame. Pretty much fixed now. What a fun bike to ride, but got lots of respect for it. Just did breather mod. Next is air box / K&N, drummer exhaust, race ecm. (for more rumble and zip).

I have been wheeling my xb12r on first gear at every light every chance i get lol just power wheelies. lately after doing few times i can smell the sweet smell of the oil. I DEFINITLY WONT SELL IT TO ANYONE I KNOW HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Thaloc what r u smoking i want some of it LOL Xb9 wheelies better than xb12s???? [confused]

How to wheelie a xb12r with race kit

First gear take off as fast as possible till 4k rpm let off the throttle, bike will dip forward on the way back crack it open 100% then when u cant see road, roll the throttle back tiny tiny bit and ride out a nice wheelie till u hit red line and bike will come down easy. do not cut throttle fully when u see sky or u will F&ck ur forks up. keep the rear break covered.

I wheelie constantly with my 03 XB9R. But a little bit less since I watched my best friend wreck doing a wheelie right in front of me. mostly only first gear and shifting up to second.

any tips for second gear clutch ups[cool]

Yeah, i mostly do 1st gear clutch ups. Haven't perfected sustainable power wheelies or clutching in second. I also can't get the hang of shifting with a wheelie on this thing. I can do it on other machines, but idk...you use the clutch to shift while doing a wheelie on these? 03firebolt9r 2up wheelies are one of my fav things to do when giving a girl for a ride for the first time especially. hahahaha i don't ever go too high tho. Just enough to show them whats up. What speed/rpm do you guys clutch at in second? standing, sitting?

i wheelie all the time... even have a bunch of them on helmet cam... ill have to get them posted up... usually clutch up in 2nd gear... but with the buell its very very hard on belts.. im on #4 since i bought it new in 04... but al pulling alot more horsepower than stock... thought about the chain kit but my buddy in town here has it and hates it.... we think the idler sprocket is the wrong size for the chain and were both machineists so were going to try making a delrin ( real hard plastic ) idler sprocket and see how it goes....

try to get away from the chain vibe/slap...

but anywhoo no close calls on the buell here... plenty of crashes and scary one on the jap stunter tho haha but i take it easy on the fine peice of engineering!
