Wheelie Flops

Most wheelies for me are very much unintentional, i think bcuz the uly's center of gravity is a bit higher it makes them a lil more prone to standing up in first and second.
One of my few "i meant to do that" wheelies i did @ about 5mph in my work parking lot, just reved it up to about 4k and steadily released the clutch ( was trying to scare the **** out my boss who was walking across the lot, he got a good veiw of the underside of my bike). It was pretty easy, but as many previous posts have said, im a wheely noob and dont want to trash my bike so i steer clear of stunts.

I can vouch for ibadtitan's love of the wheely, i think the funniest one was when we both "accidentally" ran a very yellow nearly red light, and he pulled a wheely thru it so the camera on the light couldnt see his undertail plates, i was expecting to get a ticket in the mail focused on my plate with him doing a wheely next to me, wouldve been a worth while ticket, but sadly no free photography from pott. county :(

John.. we didn't see ya at the cruise tonight... text me sometime when your out riding.. 7122425889.. haven't had the change to ride with another Buell in some time..

I'll clutch up with second and attempt in third once in a while, I'm not great at it so they are usually just small ones.

The only time I've attempted a wheelie I was rolling around 15 mph and it ended like this...

Believe me, I'd like to be able to do a wheelie, but I'm not risking my Buell again.

Jesus Silverado, hope you didn't get too messed up! I know I was real lucky to come out of mine with just a small scrape at 60mph, but after seeing that at 15 mph.. whoa. I'll go quietly count my blessing now.

Again hope it wasn't as bad as that pic makes it look.

Yeah, the picture pretty much speaks for itself.

I went from 3 o'clock to 12 in a blink and came straight off the bike, hit the chin of the helmet and then slid a few feet on the shield. No major injuries, just a sore and bloody nose, a few scrapes (but didn't tear my jeans?) and a bruised ego... and about $600 in new parts. Helmet, jacket and gloves took the brunt. The worst part was hearing my bike slide across some really rough residential concrete.

I was already a big proponent of ATGATT, but even more so after. And as I mentioned before, I still want to do a wheelie (would like to drift, too, and maybe a few other things) but I am not going to do it on my Buell.

I unintentionally floated my front wheel from a red light when I first got my Buell. At the time, I thought I whealied -LOL- but now I know six inches up isn't really a wheelie. Yep, it scared the crap outta me. I am in awe of those who can do them but I like having this bike and I like having an intact body!

I just think I'm too fat to do it on my 9sx! I've tried to even just lift the wheel a little and still haven't been able to do it, so I just decided to give up on that an just ride the bike and enjoy it.

Hey Guys, I'm a relatively new member, But I've had my Buell for over 2 years now (celebrated our anniversary on april 14th :p) I don't mean to repeat any questions, but I haven't seen this mentioned yet, How do the oil system hold up to wheelies, I've only ever pulled a wheelie under hard acceleration and never past 30 degrees but i don't hold them for very long because I don't want the oil pump to run dry? Am I just being paranoid? Where does the pickup run to the oil tank? is it possible for it to loose oil pressure?

My nine doesn't seem to want to stand up on simple hard acceleration either, I'm by no means a big guy either, probably about 160lbs soaking wet with my gear on. It'll stand up some if i slip the clutch a bit, and I'm sure it'll flip on me if I try hard enough. However I like my bike to much to do anything to crazy, and I am not skilled enough to attempt crazy wheelies either.

Really???? [confused]

My '03 9r has literally zero trouble bringing the front up? Granted I may be running a few modifications but still. Power wheelies for days. Even comes up in third if you hit it right.

A lot of it has to do with weight distribution though. If your leaning forward and have your weight on the handlebars it's going to be tougher to bring the bike up.

Man this thread is still kicking !!! ... haha .. oh well .. always gives me a good excuse to watch those buell wheelie vids again ... :p ...

Then I always take a ride on my r6 and laugh at the thought of wheelies on my buell .... hahhahaha :D
