Which car should I get next? WRX or 5.0?

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

The modern 5.0 is a fantastic engine - and the 3.7 is ALSO rather fantastic. The WRX's flat 4 has had some history of faulty headgaskets and ring issues of late but I wouldn't let that deter me.

Comparing a WRX to a Mustang is apples and oranges. Would you rather buy an M3 or a GT-R? The WRX is a great car, the Mustang is a great car. So the *real* question, in my opinion, should be what do you intend to do with it.

The new chassis on the Mustang is, amazingly, quite competent in the twisties but of course is NOT AWD. I would say that is the ONLY disadvantage of the Mustang. Your mileage may vary. But I think bashing either car based on their older siblings is foolish.

Jesse t and 50dro, you cant post pics of your custom rides without a short list of mods! Those are both nice rides. Cant wait to mod mine out (but I have to wait till I have $$$)

+1 with your intentions. I am an all american ford guy, but if you feel you need AWD, do what works better for your application. Best of luck!

I just like the looks of the mustang. It does'nt have to be a 5.0. I'm not gonna drive it real fast. Its just a great lookin car with a good rep.

Yea... didn't mean to jack with pics and talk of my scooby. Glad yer not offended.. heheh.

Don't care about the mods to my STI dmp0001? :( I will take it upon myself then. :p

I went super sleeper with it!!!

Body:

Lost the big ass spoiler and went completely wingless.
Shaved the lock cylinder on the trunk. (It really stood out after removing all the emblems).
Cut out the grille center post and painted it body color.
Painted the headlamp bezels body color and removed the reflectors and used amber bulbs instead.
Complete repaint. I stayed with the factory color but sprayed blue pearl on top with lots and lots of clear. Over cast days you could not tell the difference but in the sun... or even better... under street lights at night it had an aura.
Painted the wheels black and cleared them with semi-gloss clear with blue pearl added.

Suspension:

H&R lowering springs
(I bought some H&R coil-overs but sold her before installing them). ***They are for sale***
Hotchkiss sway bars front and rear.
Urethane bushings through out.
Perrin end links.
Perrin subframe brace.
Perrin strut braces.

Engine:

FP Green Turbo.
Perrin front mount intercooler.
Perrin Big Maf intake.
Perrin high flow injectors.
Carter high pressure fuel pump.
Perrin down pipe.
Invidia complete 3" stainless exhaust system
(no cats and practically no muffler).
Cobb Access Port - Tuned by PdxTuning

Interior:

Subaru triple gauge pod
(boost, volts, oil temp)
Subaru speakers
(no audio came in the STI?)
Pioneer POS cd player
All weather floor mats!!
Tinted windows....

Yea.. thats the bulk of it... Why did I sell her?!?!

any more pics of yours 50dro?

Yep...I have lots. I'll try to upload them somewhere and post a link...

Thanks for all the compliments guys! Nice WRX's too by the way. I always thought they would be a fun car to own.

out of all the cars i have driven. mario anrettis old 91 lamo diablo II, 88 ferrari testarossa, 95 zr1, 69 camaro rs/ss and a new 5.0. nothing beats the handling of my old 04 wrx with studded snows in the mountains or on slick roads... that was the only car that if you push it too hard the awd and throttle will get you out of trouble haha

Damn Michael you dumped a lot of moola into that STI.

Less than you would think actually. I am a bargain shopper and worked at a body shop at the time.

sorry, didnt mean to leave you out, nice car!

Thanks man... just talkin schmack.

awd and throttle will get you out of trouble haha

A friend drove me and my car home when I had been drinking one night. I told him he could throttle it up as hard as he wanted.. just don't hit anything! Sooo... from a dead stop turning left onto a 4 lane road he romps the **** out of it and manages to pitch it sideways. No problems... its a Scooby right? Wrong.. He did what came naturally to him. He counter-steered it like it was a Mustang and we did a 180 in the opposite direction and came to a complete stop in .00003 seconds. So there we are facing on coming traffic with smoke still lingering in the air and I ask him... "Did ya hit anything?"

Point it where you want to go and hit the pedal on the right. Subaru figured out AWD and it keeps getting better.

i drove a friend home in my suboo and it was down a crazy twisty road.. he was bragging about his friends mustang going to this party so i decided to show him up on the was home... his dreams of owning another gt turned into an 03 sti :)
