Which car should I get next? WRX or 5.0?

stang and the subby havent changed much in those years though.

I have to disagree. The Mustang is on a whole new platform and a whole new engine that greatly outperforms an 08 GT. Can't speak for the WRX improvements though.

I continue to be impressed by that Motor Trend comparison linked earlier of the 5.0 to the M3. I tried to look for a WRX vs. M3 comparo and came up short. They always line up an STi in such comparisons.

I say Ron buys one of each and we settle this once and for all!

stang is a great car but everywhere you look someones kid or grandmother has one its like the r6 of the car world.

Seriously??? How many "kids" have you seen running around in WRX's lately? That's about all I ever see in them. I see that one the other way around. The WRX & R6 are more "tuner" to me and the the 5.0 is the American muscle. Don't get me wrong...I'm not a buy American no matter what guy. I own a GTI and a Honda besides my Buell and Mustang.

Good reference Jesse! I'm glad to see that. I think the American car companies have a lot to learn from their foreign competitors manufacturing in the states.

Yeah the 0-60 is better with the wrx, but the Sti is a 6 speed. And you get way more bang for your buck. It has a better awd system better brakes and shocks I had a wrx and loved it but always wanted a Sti after lol

I wish! Would love the WRX for poor weather and Stang for good weather, but when it is nice out I ride so it would be very impractical to have 2 cars just for me... on top of the 4 bikes my wife and I have (ya I know that is also impractical)

Not a fan of the new Camaros really. Only GM vehicles I like are from 1968-1970. I don't like how GM and Chrysler took billions of bailout money. Just my opinion.

I'd say the Subaru would last longer than the Mustank. I'm talking about bumper to bumper, you can get several 100k miles out of most engines these days. I know ford created a new platform for the stang, but it's still a "lower priced" muscle car.

I had an 02 GT and my doors were becoming misaligned by 2006...it wasn't even paid off yet. I didn't race it either, I had fun with it, but no Dukes of Hazzard going on or anything. I know bad quality when I see it, and Ford is good at hiding the bad.

I'm NOT saying all ford vehicles are crap either....

can't even compare a GT Mustang to a ZR1 Camaro. Completely different levels. and I'm guessing you mean the new ZL1. ZR1 is Corvette I believe. and If you mean Corvette, those are completely different levels too. Now a Gt Mustang can Compare to an SS Camaro, in which case I think the Stang wins in almost all categories, on paper at least. Faster, Lighter, Handles better.

That's because the SS was a big disappointment. My friend raced a new SS in his 06 Tuner Package WRX. The SS had no chance.

ya I think Chevy filed pretty big with the new SS. It looks pretty good but it doesn't perform as it looks. In my opinion.

Notice I said the zr1 tells Ford to suck it...I'm saying what can Ford build to compete with "government motors" zr1...or z06.

Now, Im not comparing a gt mustang to a zr1 or a z06. I'm saying I'd go with a company that has proven they know a little bit more about building motors. And if you disagree with that you've obviously never drove or took a ride in a z06 or a zr1. Since my uncle owns a dealer I've done plenty of seat time in both.
So, between the two cars in question. I'd go with a car with a proven motor, and proven durability and engineering; the wrx. I'm not saying that the new motor and goodies on the mustang are not gonna turn out to be exactly what they aimed for. However, I'm not gonna be a Guinea pig on a new platform.

I'm a fan of the Z06 etc but you're forgetting the Ford GT! A real superior contender.

I'd go wrx/sti. But if were talking muffstains id buy an prev generation supercharged cobra. Forged internals on those are good for lots hp with a bigger blower or a snail.
