ok so i washed the buell today , i used a pressure washer but was careful not to soak it ( or so i thought ) , bike fired up right after and drove it home fine , she sat for about 30 min after that and know it wont start , i can hear the relay click but thats it. i put the bike in neutral but the light does not come on , but if i pull in the clutch the fuel pump kicks on and the neutral light kicks on, if i let the clutch out all the light on dash go off, neutral light and engine light, but with clutch engaged and bike in any gear the neutral light still comes on, no matter what i do relay just clicks and no start.....any help?

The weird neutral light happened to me when the diode in the fuse box was put in backwards. If you haven't messed with it, pull the top off the fuse box and blow it out real good with compressed air.

03's thru 05's have a side-stand switch relay (kick-stand) I think. It seems like the early XB's had a switch down by the kick-stand and then they upgraded to a neutral-switch option or something. I know my 07 xb9r had all the upgrades done except for the TSP reset. They made the TSP reset manual on the 08's and later. Check and see if there are wires down by the kick-stand or a relay. Water could be a culprit if there are wires down there.

i commend you on your honesty for revealing pressure-washer usage and presumptively you'll heed my advice on 2 levels: 1-don't ever use it again on your buell....................and 2-get an air compressor and nozzle with rubber tip. now remove seat, fusebox lid, front pulley cover.....get bike out in the sun and start blowing out every single nook and cranny including handlebar switchgear. rubber tipped nozzle prevents you from inadvertently moving nozzle tip across sensitive areas and doing cosmetic damage. if you see a connection/plug/wiring loom/socket/whatever....dry it. follow up with a light coating of something on the order of kano kroil and wipe off.

so i cranked the heat in the shop all night went out this am , still nothing . from playing with all the sensors and switches and using the dmm i found out only the kickstand senor isn't working, so i bypassed it and bam fired right up, will work for now till new sensor shows up. thanks for all the tips fellas , lesson learned, no more pressure washer for me

thanks fellas.
