And took about 1/2" off the sliders. Thinking of making new pucks that are bulged out in the center.

And the other side I haven't done yet.

hidden brake mod next? if so, motowheels.com for Brembo caliper $97 with pads included

Yep I'll be doing it, even though mine won't be hidden with the big window in the swingarm.

Link?

Only progress today is I received my donor swingarm, barely had time to open the box.

I did get a new lathe, cold saw and drill press today, so i guess that counts as progress. Although they are all three phase and im running residential 220 power, so ive got to figure that out.

im debating REAL hard on whether or not to get a vf20/g0704 mill, so that i can retrofit it to CNC later on down the line.

i JUST missed out on a J head bridgeport not too far from me last week. had no way to move it when it came up for sale, and it was gone in 2 days. wanted only $1500 for it too. argh!

what size lathe did u get?

very nice. thats a long bed for a narrow swing. did it come from a shaft shop or something?

i think my dream machine would be an old monarch 10EE. theres a few folks that REALLY spruce em up. i love the designs of those machines. very googie architecture. update it with a DRO and all the new indexed holders and voila!!
just hard to justify one of those for a home hobby shop. lol.

now THATS a sexy beast

It's not that long of a bed for the swing. Remember it will turn something 18" in diameter, bigger if you remove the gap piece in the bed.

I guess it's a specailized thread cutting machine since it will cut something like 240 different thread pitches.

I do occasionally build driveshafts so the bed length will be nice to have.

ah....didnt realize it was a gap-bed.

nonetheless, its nice to have space for that at the casa.

biggest lathe i ran was a TOS 25x120 i believe. rough turned down marine engine pistons for reconditioning.

then i maintained, programmed and ran a bullard 56" CNC vtl. THAT thing was a hoss. it would take a .315" wide plunge and not even bat an eye.

my real estate is a premium in my garage including the MX bike and woodworking tooling so im in the market for some 'bench' stuff....with the posssibility of converting them later on.

i will keep you posted.

excellent work on all the other stuff BTW. its a good thread to follow.

Here is a picture for scale.

I'm just 25 years old and I'm finally getting my dream shop set up. A nice manual mill and bandsaw will be next. I just received my new bendpack 2 post lift, so I'm trying to get that set up with this 4 day holiday I have off work.

also ordered the mandrel bends for my exhaust. It will have 1.625" primary's, step up to 1.875" then end up at 2".
