Day 2 and probelms already :(

Just came back to the forum getting ready for spring to be here. Yes I found out what was wrong. After 3 weeks at the dealer. I attempted to pick up the bike 3 times each time they thought it was fixed. NOT. I also spent a few hours in the back with two techs trying to figure it out. Here's...

as green as can be. . .

I would say start smaller and cheaper. I know it's hard to wait to get the cool bike. I used to keep a 78 Yamaha XS400 around just to teach friends to ride and let them take their test on. If for no other reason than there is a really good chance that you will drop the bike as you are...

    Rode 2up on the lightning

Girlfriend or friend is the key word here. When I was dating my wife she actually rode on the bobed fender of my 79 Shovel. I had to shout bump every time we went over anything bigger than a hwy seam so she could quickly stand up. She was and is a very good sport. :) Haven't had her on the back...

    Let's see those levers

I've had CRG's on my Guzzi and I just put Pazzo's on my XB12. I prefer the CRG' feel a bit more than the Pazzo's but only by a small margin. The CRG's were skinnier. Of course it could be the cable vs hydrolic clutch that I'm feeling as well. Both very nice pieces.

    Ok here's one for ya.

I've got to hand it to the tech Chris at WP HD in EP, MN (enough initals for ya?). Chris took the time to bring me back to the bench twice, to make sure I understood the process he was going through to try and diagnose the problem, got me involved, and walked me through the entire process and...

    Ok here's one for ya.

Resolution. Well here's the final. There were micro breaks in the harness for the tps, the tps wires themselves comming from the sensor, and the main wiring harness that connects everything was being pushed against one of the head bolts by the crank case breather re-route. It put just enough...

    Ok here's one for ya.

More news. They thought they had it, but by the time I got there to pick it up it was acting up again. So me and 2 techs went at it for about an hour. We knew it was a broken wire as it would intermintantly throw a TPS code. Thought it was the TPS harness and replaced that. Turns out it was the...

    Ok here's one for ya.

The side stand interupt is designed to kill the bike if it is running on the sidestand and it is put in gear. This is to prevent you from riding off with the sidestand down and jacking the rear wheel of the ground on the first left hander. The bike should run on the side stand unil any gear is...

    Ok here's one for ya.

So talked to them again. Apparently it does not do it if the side stand is up and the bike leaned over. Gotta be in the side stand switch right??????

    Ok here's one for ya.

Not sure if this has the side-stand interrupt or not but if it does, it should die right away by kiling the spark. According to them, what it's doing is loading up and fouling the plugs when it's leaned over. I'm sure they will figure it out, but damn its weird.

    Ok here's one for ya.

07 XB12scg. It's been at the dealer for 7 days now. They finaly got it running. It was fouling plugs. Timing was way off, TPS needed reset. Previous owner must have messed it up. Anyway I'm about to run down and get it when they call back and say it won't run on the side stand. It runs fine...

    Took the Plunge

I think most of the codes are historic because of the bad battery that was in when I got the bike. The engine light only comes on now when the bike has been running for a few min and is warm. If you start from cold it will idle fine for a few min. If you get on it and ride it, it will go around...

Day 2 and probelms already :(

Thanks for the suggestions. I've checked everything mentioned. It's really strange. Basically it starts and runs ok when cold, but as soon as it warms up it fouls plugs. Within 5 or 10 min of running. It's as if it never comes off the enrichment circuit when it gets warm. Check engine light...

Day 2 and probelms already :(

I won't be able to do anything more until I get my ECM cable. I'm real busy this week and it's raining all week, so I'm not missing it too much. I hope I can diagnose and resolve once I can connect ECMspy. However I've no explanation as to why it would run fine for a while and then after a...

    Took the Plunge

I checked today and the warranty expired April 28th of this year. :( I think I can explain all but the TPS and Injector codes. I forgot to hookup the intake air sensor the first time I took it apart so that explans that one(probably) It had a weak / bad battery when I bought it so that explans...

Day 2 and probelms already :(

Turns out I have bigger problems. Bike was running fine yesterday for 30 miles or so. I stoped for about 20min. When I left there was a hesitation at low rpm and a few blocks later it was missing so bad I had to pull over. It got worse very quickly. I pulled the top apart on the side of the...

    Took the Plunge

Thanks Dave. I ran the codes here's what it said. 11. Throttle Position Sensor 15. Intake air temp sensor 16. Battery Voltage 23. Front Fuel Injector 32. Rear fuel Injector I have a new battery 12.9v or better. Had new iridium plugs but are now fouled. It's running so rich that it will foul...

    Took the Plunge

Well as I sit here waiting for the tow truck, I'm wondering if we have any ideas. Bike rode fine 30 miles 80degrees mostly hwy Stopped for about 20min Started up and was missing just a little at low rpm. Then a few blocks away in city traffic. Started missing really bad had to pull over...

Day 2 and probelms already :(

I had to start it for my buddy, but it has the stock exhaust so it really only sounds great at speed. I've also had harleys from the 70'd and yeah I know the limits of the motor. You have to marvel that they get the kind of HP they do. Rode a good bit today. AWSOME bike. I'm leaning farther...

Day 2 and probelms already :(

Did the breather to smooth out low rpm. Battery needed to be replaced. Plugs, as recomended to help with low rpm. I did plan to ride away after the starting for friends. But had to run back in the office. This to me is ridiculous that you cant start a bike and let it run a couple min and...
