bar end mirrors

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

as a side note, what do u guys do with the open bolt holes where the old mirrors used to be?

You can put an appropriately sized button head cap screw in them or do like I did and find some plastic hole plugs (also sized)like these:

Hole Plugs

Note: I didn't get mine from there...My work was gracious enough to "lend" them to me...:D

ahhh
i didnt even think of that
i was busy trying to figure out how to find a bolt with the right length and threading
lol... yay for simple solutions! :D

btw, anyone know where to get a set of these bar end mirrors/hand guards

Lohani thanks for the heads up. Your pic is exactly what I have been envisioning (my sled's the same color too). So from your post, I should just get the barend kit from ASB for both left and right sides? Does the kit come with the mirrors too?

well i didnt even need the kit for the left side
it fit just fine on the stock barend for thehandguards
the right side was just too tight, so i ordered the kit for that
i SWEAR ASB's site said u had to order 2 if you needed for both side, mebbe im wrong.. but they sent me barends for both sides, and the hardware(longer screws and spacers) had enuf for both sides anyways

the instructions that came with it somehow managed to get me confused
so if the 4 lil spreader pieces have you lost, lemme know and ill show ya how to snap em together
heh heh :)

americansportbike.com sells mirror block off plates for firebolts ... not cheap, though, like hole plugs, etc ...

pardon the size ... new to forums (09 xb12r, 1st bike)

Just got mine from eBay. Cut 1/8" off the end of the throttle grip and work perfect! ZERO vibration!

I covered my mirror holes with these little rubber inserts from autozone's screw/fastener rack... Litteraly a perfect fit the inner part is snug inside and then the top is the exact size to cover the whole top. Excelent for keeping water from getting in. I will post up exactly wich ones when I get home

That's exactly what I wanted to pick up! Definitely get me the part number. I have electrical tape over my holes now. :D

I see most people have lightnings. That makes it easier.

I've been looking for those plastic plugs for my firebolt, but I haven't found anything I trust. I didn't take exact measurements, but I'm assuming I'll need a 1/4" or 3/16" plug. If anything, that plug will only go through the fairing and won't even touch the aluminum fairing stay. I'd be worried about the fairing flopping around in the wind and those plugs falling out.

i used cateye500 push bike mirrors. i had to get one from canada and the other here is australia to get both left and right.

work great and very effective. i just have them angled to the front to prevent excess movement in high speeds. works well.

and the crunch... AUD$23 each.

here is a pic of them on my current ride...

That looks great Pockets! I think I'll go that route since the price is right and Uncle Sam wants me to give him more money by April 15th...[mad]

Thanks 7. The eBay seller is here in CA and had free shipping. Only cost me $17.45! I can't imagine going back to those mouse ears. It's taken me about a week to get used to looking to myside a little, but it's SO worth it.

Browland- Were you able to get the part number on those hole plugs?

sorry it took a min to find this dang package my garage is a wreck...

they should be on the fasteners rack at autozone packaged like the first pic they fit exactly the right size inside and out just press down with thumb and give it a little twist... I also put a dab of grip adhesive on the rim even though it didn't seem to need it I just like using adhesives

figured I would post up the barend mirrors I got from d2moto/amazon $12.99 plus shipping... wanted black got faux carbon fiber and they started growing on me used rubber grommet thingys from autozone to fill old holes :

The hole caps are a standard Buell part, and are less than a buck (unlike most things at a dealership). They are also perfect on Lightnings for filling the mirror holes, if you can't find something at autozone or Lowes to do the job. Pt.# N0001.B.

I order the cheap bar end mirrors off of ebay a few days ago, and I am really excited to see how I like them. If I really like them, I am going to upgrade to the CRG lane splitter mirrors this summer.:)

I hope I love them so I can have a good reason to back up the $200 it is going to cost for those CRGs.

I can not wait to see my bike without those stock mirrors. They are one of the very few thing I actually dislike about my bike.:)

Thunder- I wouldn't even bother with CRGs unless you really want the folding option. I ride almost every day and my eBay's haven't had any issue at all.
