She must either be a badass chick, but assuming she is a chick I would guess it is an older model, 26er and an aluminum comp series, or since your such a small guy you got it to share just sayin
Well it was a chilly 29deg but that and a little snow on the trail didn't matter. Some friends and I with a few layers hit the trials to try out my new bike.
First 5mi the rear brake would not lock up to save my ass, but eventually began to work just fine (not sure if it was the temp or they just needed to be broken in). Also I stopped by to have a little air added to the fork since I bottomed it out weighing 180lbs and it was set up for a 140lb rider, but the shop said no can do..... Here is a free pump so you don't need to swing in to have us add it. So a free $30 pump was fine with me[up]
Quick shot at the shop after the ride. Definitely need to get use to the hardtail over full susp.
Yeah, that is what the guy said. He told me every Full Susp. bike is suppose to come with one. I said my $1700 FS bike trumps my $3200 hardtail for the pump? He just said it was the owners call. Either way I got one now.
Did you get it from breakaway? They are kinda shifty. They tried to sell me my bike with plastic pedals when I know for a fact it came from trek with clipless pedals. Then they were going to charge me for bmx platforms and I said really. They finally gave in and gave them to me for free but damn. Also they didn't offer to set up the suspension or anything which any good shop will do. I know a place in the up that fits every bike to people. They will change out the saddle and stem at no charge for people. It takes a while to fit a bike but it makes a big difference.
They mounted my computer and water bottle carriages for nothing while I was there and I was given an additional 10% off the bike price even though it is brand new and retail was higher, Fine tuning of gears and tire pressure, susp/seat setup including seat post and stem swap out if needed the stem I will have to go back if I feel I need to swap it out once I get a few rides in(they did the stem swap on my FSR), and Big plus is they told me they will tune the bike for free before each race next year
i also just got back from a freezing ass ride brrrr.bet That hardtails nice climbing up hills though. My brakes also seemed a little slugish think it just the cold.
Yeah I am thinking the brakes just warmed up some and began working good. For hills I am hoping it will climb good. I know my full susp. bike soaked up so much momentum climbing, that is why I insisted on going with a hardtail for the added climbing and speed.
hey Bob, I am a little north of you but have rode Harbourview in Sooke on Vancouver Island, Mnt Prevost in Duncan, Mnt Washington up near Courtney, Mnt Seymour on the North Shore, Silver Star in Vernon, Whistler and the trail systems up around Williams Lake.
here a couple of links for you and anyone else interested in some of BC's sickest mountainbike riding.
[up]
just 2 hours east of me is Williams Lake, here are the trails there as well as the tabs at the top take you to other Mountainbiking in the Cariboo
Traded my Trek 4300 Disk for a brand new 2011 Eastern Mad Dog.
Also bought a new front rim (Bontrager Rhythm Comp 26" Carbon) so i can upgrade to hydraulic brakes and actually have a front brake. Im so excited to get out there and start learning and messing around.
Nice my Xmas morning here in MI was green and 43deg so I hit up the trails with my new Stumpjumper! Added on my new GoPro seat post/bar mount and went for a 5mi rip through the woods.
Sorry for the bad sound quality, not sure if it is the frame vibration through the crank or what, but decent video.
Its the only on the shop had. It isnt as wide as the stock tire or as strong but i needed a hub i can mount a disk to and buying a new hub and spokes would be just as expensive. But with what im doing and starting out, the rim should work fine.
