i also just got back from a freezing ass ride brrrr.bet That hardtails nice climbing up hills though. My brakes also seemed a little slugish think it just the cold.

Yeah I am thinking the brakes just warmed up some and began working good. For hills I am hoping it will climb good. I know my full susp. bike soaked up so much momentum climbing, that is why I insisted on going with a hardtail for the added climbing and speed.

Nice ride. How do you like the 29's? Been riding mine for about 6 years, my 26" feels funny anymore. Now all you need to do is single speed it!

I live south ov Vancouver so Whistler and Galbraith are my playgrounds.

BMX lost a great one last month [sad] He can backflip a 60ft dirt jump but he passed away from injuries sustained by jumping into a pool.

Nice my Xmas morning here in MI was green and 43deg so I hit up the trails with my new Stumpjumper! Added on my new GoPro seat post/bar mount and went for a 5mi rip through the woods.

Sorry for the bad sound quality, not sure if it is the frame vibration through the crank or what, but decent video.

Also got to test my new bike racks ;)

Its the only on the shop had. It isnt as wide as the stock tire or as strong but i needed a hub i can mount a disk to and buying a new hub and spokes would be just as expensive. But with what im doing and starting out, the rim should work fine.

Hmm, what about using the hub with the stock wheel and spokes to keep the strength? That carbon is going to flex a bit and crack. Not sure how well you are at riding but the rim will take a beating for sure and carbon isn't the best for beating on.

I cant use the stock hub because it has no mounting holes for a disk, and buying a new hub and spokes will be possibly more expensive then getting a new rim. Im still thinking about returning it. Bought anyways with the shop being an hour away to test it and see if it would even fit. With it being a all mountain rim it is wider and alittle bit more stronger. Plus like i said i wont be doing anything bigger then a 6 foot drop with this rim so if i do keep it. With my current skill set it should be fine. (it wont be used for downhill since there are none around me, it will be used for urban) Don't worry I feel the same concern for having a carbon rim. Im working out a plan.

No I am saying relace the stock rim with the aftermarket hub and spokes. That way you have the right hub for the disc brake but don't need to worry about the carbon rim.

I know what youre saying. And what im saying is that the cost to do that is looking to be more then the new rim.

Or do you want me to replace the hub and spokes off of my new carbon rim with the my stock rim? Can i do that with the spokes? I thought you had to cut them to get them off.

Yeah just swap the rim, you would just need to lace the aftermarket hub/spokes to the stock rim.

At the very least you would want to bring the newly laced setup to have it all trued so your rim is strong and straight.

Hmm, i didnt know i could reuse the spokes. Im shopping right now for hubs, spokes, and possibly the tools to do it myself to see if i can save some money.

Shops usually charge about $50 to lace a wheel, but at least you know it is right and straight.

Don't have anything fancy but here's my leg powered bike bought a few years ago to ride with my kids around the neighborhood
