i love my rite side scoop , it really helps on my 04 12s
my buddy has 09 12ss and he pissed his fan on always and mine hardly ever come on hahahahahaha :D

Got the inner and outer scoop from the HD dealer, found the screws I needed in the shed and put it all on in maybe 5 minutes.

After a week or so of riding with the right side scoop on... I'm a happy camper. Morning commutes are cool for the bike and me. Afternoons and evenings are about 50/50 for the fan coming on when I turn the bike off, but I still stay pretty cool.

A must do mod/add-on. [up]

Just received mine from Lake Shore today. Picked up some SS bolts & washers at Home Depot for $3.76 Bolted right up and looks great, unfortantly its raining and will have to wait for tomorrow for a test ride.

Can someone tell me why Chicgo Hd & Lakeshore both show these part numbers as invalid online. My local dealer, Beartooth HD, says the numbers on here are invalid and the correct ones are MO902.4A8MBE @ $49.95 for the scoop & MO903.02A8A for the inner scoop part @ $12.00, neither of which show up as valid at Chicago & Lakeshore HD. Im about ready to order the ASB scoop.

those part #'s are for the stock scoops that came on your bike (you don't want those numbers). make sure you (and the dealer dude) are typing them in right, use 0 (zero) not o. hope this helps[smirk]

you want these:

M0851.7AA (scoop)
M0852.7AA (inner scoop)

I did tell him an O instead of a zero. I just typed into Suredykes search and it said item not found. Im just going to order the ASB scoop

I just ordered from LSHD1.com used the part numbers fine. Cost me right under 60 bucks including shipping.

I just installed the kit from American Sportbike.
http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-prodshow/A17360.html

It came with the inner part, the outer part, and 3 stainless fasteners. It also shipped out the same day.

Unfortunately I had some trouble installing because the captive nut in the frame tab on the lower mounting position of the stock bit of plastic was loose and just turned with the fastener.

I had to cut the OEM part off and then hold the back of that captive nut with vice grips to get the fastener out. I just put it back in the way it was when reinstalling, I'll figure a permanent fix if I ever have to take the scoop off again.

DowntownHD (Seattle's biggest dealer) reported the parts as backordered. I placed an order with them, then came back to check this thread, and ended up discovering surdyke.com is still showing the parts as available. Right on! Ordered up, let's see what comes in the mail. :D

Thanks Joel, and everybody else who's posted to this thread.

Got my scoops in Thursday. I ordered both the stock '10 scoop and the Ully scoop from Surdyke. I ordered both, 'cause while I like the look of the '10 scoop, I wasn't sure if it would really help much, and it was only $15 more, grand total of $65 for both shipped to Texas.

So, to give you an Idea of my comparison test, i have a 38 mile ride to work each way, going to work thats 10 miles of city, 25 miles of highway and 3 miles of county road (55 mph 2-lane blacktop). It in the opposite order coming home. My ride to work is early morning, around 85-90 degree temps, and the ride home is evening, starting at over 100, cooling to the upper 90s as the sun goes down at the end of the ride.

I put the '10 factory scoop (small one) on first, since I didn't have the 10-32 screws to mount the other one yet, and rode it to work and back on friday. After getting to work, the fan ran about the same amount as usual, no real difference noted. On the ride home however, I felt more heat off the engine than normal, and upon parking it at the house, the fan ran for even longer than usual, and the bike seemed rather hot, more so than I am used to. So, IMHO, the small scoop was if anything, less effective than the stock one. This may be because I noticed, right off, that both of the new scoops have less plastic at the rear behind the mounting screw. The stock scoop on my '03 XB9R actually went all the way back over the header pipe, and probably kept more heat from the pipe off the engine and me.

So, dissapointed, I removed the '10 scoop, and mounted the Ully scoop friday night. I rode it to work and back today, and first off, when I got to work this morning, no fan at all. Good so far. On my ride home today, which is the more important one, being much hotter, I immediately noticed less heat on my leg and butt crack, and the engine seemed happier than normal. Upon parking it, the fan did come on, but only for a very short while.

Conclusion, if you want a cooler, happier engine in this hot-as-balls Texas summer, the Ully scoop is definitely worth it. If you don't need the extra cooling, but think the scoop looks cool, go with the '10 stock scoop, it's cheap and does look nice.

On a side note, the Ully scoop doesn't fit snug up against the frame as well as the stock and the '10 factory scoop do. Now that I'm a believer, I'm gonna elongate the mounting holes a bit to get it to fit better, which could do nothing but improve it's performance and appearance.

Hope this review gives someone the extra input they needed to pull the trigger and get the scoop!
