buell factory right side scoop

Pipe is wrapped. Seems like the wrap is what causing the snag. Looms like choices are remove pipe or wrap, cut on scoop, or bend tap w/ nut out to let scoop by??

Took the easy way. Tweaked the tab on the rear mounting point enough to slide the scoop out. Best thing is it didn't break off.

Just to throw a little more updated info in this thread, I have just purchased these scoop parts from Colonial Harley Davidson in Colonial Heights Virginia at the following prices on 04/06/2013:

Part Number Description Qty Price pre Tax
AN1005.3FSS SCREW, BSCS, 10-32X5/8, S 3.00 $2.03
M0851.7AA SCOOP, AIR, ENGINE, RIGHT 1.00 $30.40
M0852.7AA SCOOP, AIR, ENGINE, RIGHT 1.00 $25.38

These are all the parts I needed as I re used the original plastic shields bolts.

I have fitted this on my 08 XB12 and it fits like a dream (as you would hope for a factory part) plus as others mentioned it helps to keep the fan run to a minimum.

Just ordered:

For my 2008 xb12r.

Forgot to answer your second questions. I love this mirrors. Much better visibility than the bar end mirrors. Better looking than stock.

I think the factory one looks like a lop sided titty from the front. And it's not a full oval like the left. I purchased a pegasus for $250, didn't want to pay that much. I didn't really think the workmanship was that great though. It didn't line up with the frame at the top, as good as it should have and it only mounts with (2) screws. The give you a piece of foam to help with the install, but.... The front mount bolt would not tighten flush, I was disappointed. I may have to try to bend the mout hole so it's flush, if I don't, I'm afraid it will crack the mount hole on the scoop. blaaaaaa.. Lots of BS for a expensive scoop. I guess using the bottom front mount would put the scoop to close to the header according to the instructions.....

I'm curious, EBR's ECM modifies fueling and fan usage. I recall XB owners saying their bikes run cooler with the new ECM.
How does that affect the desirability/necessity of adding the larger side scoop?

I ask because the ECM upgrade is planned for this summer, but been hesitant to do the scoop upgrade too just because it further obscures that iconic engine, which is already nearly invisible, especially on my blacked-out '09.
