trying to get ecm spy to comminicate with my bike. no luck

Bike set to run? Fetch the comm port? What operating system? Did the cable driver install?

Not sure who the supplier of the cable is as I bought it used so I'm not sure which driver to install. Bike on run switch on. Tried two computers. One with Vista and one with Windows 7. Won't connect to com port. Tried to all the computer to find the driver in auto like someone on here did with no luck. Drained bikes battery so have to wait until I get the charger for my dry cell battery.

I tried searching and reading a lot of posts these days, I have a 2008 XB12S, with K&N, breather re-routed and wanting to install a Jardine or Torque Hammer. but first i wanna find a solution for ECM upgrade without buying the EBR Race ECM since the stock ECM is tunable and i hope i can save myself some money.

can someone give me some pointers on these:

1. Is the USB to ECM cable the same for all 03-10 buell XB? cause i found some cable online but they're all stated for 03-07..

2. I know the ECMspy 2.0 is out and it's compatible to 2008 XB12, does anyone use it and have a working copy? or i have to buy it from ECMspy? or know how much it is for a copt from ECMspy?

3. Does anyone have a EBR race map for 2008 XB12s?

A lot of problems I've seen with new ECMSPY setups using new software and/or cables have one or both of these problems:
- Missing or wrong drivers for the cable interface
- Lack of pin connectivity in deutsch connector (especially on cables bought on eBay)

The drivers are available for download here: http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

For the deutsch connector pin issue, sometimes the pins aren't fully pushed in and seated in the connector during assembly by the cable builder. Use a pick tool, paper clip or other similar sized object and gently push the pins into the connector from the back side (where the wire feeds into the connector). If the pin is not fully seated, you should feel some movement and a click when the pin seats.

i tried to PM, email and wed site msg left for Xoptiinside, but no answer so i just buy one from ebay, it's shipped the same day afternoon and the seller confirmed that it works on all XBs.

for the ECMspy it's free for 07- but $78 for my 08, plus no one has the race map for 08-09, i think i may just better off buy a EBR race for $305 and save myself time and trouble.

Thinking I'd like to bring my bike back to factory tuning. Ever since I put the ECM spy tune on my bike has really run like crap. Chugging and missing at various RPM's and wanting to die at idle, have to keep wrapping the throttle sometimes to keep it running at lights. Don't know why I've put up with it this long.

So question is, can I run the stock tune with mods on my bike? air box delete, K&N filter, air scoop air box, jardine exhaust, relocated breather.....and..... I can't think of anything else right now.

I'll have to bring my old computer back to life which has the ECM spy program and my factory tune saved on it. screen died on it so I'll have to do a little repair work to the computer.

Hey OverRev... I'm in the same scenario. I have a 2009 xb12r that I would like to tune to my Jardine and K&N. Have you had any luck trying to decide whether or not to program yourself or buy the EBR ecm?

- NHRS 1250cc top end
- EBR ECM

can anyone help?

if i cant tune the ECM then I'll go back to factory ECM and try tuning that with map.

Hello I have been a member a while but I rarely post because everybody else posts and answers questions I usually have. I have a Ecmspy question my 03 xb9 would skip while riding. The only thing I haven't done was a tps reset I bought the cable have it working on my laptop. Thanks for the great Video Dave. After you zero out and go to the diagnostic screen and click on reset tps . The cps signal (big square in middle of screen) on Dave's video this was green mine was red with a 5 in it. I couldn't get it to turn green so I finished it with the red screen everything else looked fine adjusted idle and I rode it around ran great. So I'm wondering what this red or green means I'm going to try it again to see what happens . Any help would be great thank you
