Firebolt 12000K Xenons installed

Exactly ... the more you cycle the ballast on and off (especially before it has warmed up the bulb all the way) the more wear and tear you put on it. Maybe the previous owner did it, but when I start my '03 XB9R Firebolt my headlights stay on (no auto-shutoff feature for starting the engine). Both headlights are also on during high beam. So I didn't really need it, though mine are still relayed outside the factory wiring.

If you're going to go with the 55W kit, get you can probably go to the 8000K kit without getting blue because the extra wattage washes out some of the color. I have the DDM 35W 6000K kit and it's just a little blue (more noticeable during the daytime for cages). At night, it's still very bright (4300K @ 35W is the brightest/most true to daylight).

Here's a write-up I did (sorry, it's on BuelletinBoard): http://www.buelletinboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11964

I got a set of 55w 6000k HIDs from DDM. I don't like how blue they are and I'll be purchasing some 5000k bulbs soon.

so did yous guys put timers in yer setups? should i not worry about the cycling or avoid it alltogether by running a hot lead from the tail light?

DDM seems to have some darn good prices. ebay has got them beat with free shipping, but i'd rather not deal with some joe-shmoe with internet running down to his basement. and if i'm gonna hafta pay shipping; should i just order 4 kits now so i can upgrade all my vehicles?

DDM has lifetime warranties and yes I put LV's timer delay in. Running a hot lead from the tail light might making starting harder

so if DDM offers a lifetime warranty, why even bother to install a timer? just get a new ballast when it craps out!
-i know, i know; there will be down time and shipping fees and they warranty may not even cover such abuse-

and this just dawned on me on the way home from work: can a relay (in the relay box) be used for this setup? i mean, if it is allready installed ...

Just did this last night- Your diagram is inncorect- You have the brown (normally open) running to the lights- you actually need the orange (normally closed) going to the lights- the timer triggers as soon as you turn the key and this opens the normally closed circuit, making the light turn off. Im going to look into rewiring this so that it actuates the ground instead of the positive- that way if you leave your brights on, none of the headlights will come on since they share a ground.

So i have to ask people, how many of you have blackened/flaked headlamp reflector chrome. Apparently its an issue with every xb12r and xb9 in production due to heat of the bulbs. Some cases a new housing will fail in only a few months. Others a year.

Maybe we should only be using the 35watt hids. Has antone actually personally noticed that the 35w or 55w hid kits are hotter or cooler than the stock halogens? Regardless of what people say about true hid heat output ive seen some get very hot.

Yes im familiar yet all they replace them with is just a new set of junk reflectors soon to fail and i think if we run 55w setups were asking fir it.

In a spray can? Are the housings steel? I ask because ceremics need to be cured at 300 degrees and higher

hey has anyone looked at making a cornering light mod?

I'm looking at making one up. set of lights to put on the side of my bike, with a 3 point switch.

1. both cornering lights at the same time on/off
2. left cornering light on right cornering light off
3. left cornering light off right cornering light on

at this stage i don't know how much power i have to play with on the Buell XB12ss so will need to find out as i don't want to burn out the alternator.

i was looking at custom adapting a set of halogen 12V 55W 60degree view brushed chrome domestic house lights.

also not sure if i would need a ballast or a pulse timer.

can anyone help? maybe with a circuit diagram of how i could do it?

Okay cool Buddha. Doesn't Lexus or Mercedes have those headlights? When you turn the wheel past a certain point the headlights turns.

i started thinking about the need to have side lighting for night riding when cornering...

a couple months ago i was riding at night along a really twisty fun area, i came to a corner that had no center line so couldn't judge my position on the road and as i could not see how close i was to the hill side i ended up scraping my helmet on the cliff face...

i was thinking of modifying a set of these as they already have a protective casing and look stylish...

ok this is what i think i need, can get most of it from my local electrical shop.

- 2x halogen spot lights gunmetal color (need to find some cool looking ones)
- 100mm x 200mm x 1mm amber colored perspecs
- Colored Wires
- Wire Sheath/conduit (wire cover)
- 1x waterproof 3 pos Switch (same as indicator switch)
- Power Relay

feedback or ideas welcome... i have no idea what i am doing so any info is welcomed.

still looking for a diagram on the net that i think will work better than mine... any ideas welcome...

I will take pics all through the process and post them when i'm done.
