Figured I'd post a pic of mine... $9 compressor water separator "catch can" from Lowes. Had to do some modification -- drill holes in the inside, but it works like a charm!
I modeled my setup after Shatrat's except I ran the lines on the opposite side (not the "show" side). I agree with him, the more hidden the better. I've had no trouble with oil or moisture under the seat and I drain after every other wash or so. I'm glad I'm not buring that sludge and it did seem to smooth it out slightly.
I can't see the point of running a filter with an open drain as it seems the air would follow the path of least resistance... up the drain tube rather than through the filter. Thoughts?
Could a person use fuel vapor hose instead of transmission oil cooler hose for this type of application? I understand the transmission oil cooler hose can withstand higher temperatures (~300F as opposed to ~250F) and higher pressures then the fuel vapor hose, but it doesn't appear there will be a large amount of hot oil running through this hose...
Anyone else noticing a lot of smoke coming out of their filter when idling? As it's mounted behind my left leg I can't really get a good view while riding to see if it's doing it then, but seems like it would be?
2.) I am missing the drain cock. The only thing is, I really want a catch can, so do I still need that? And better yet, where can I get a nice catch can that mounts to the front like that?
Thanks guys.

parts look right, probably save money if go to auto parts store...autozone/advance/etc. I got my catch container at Walgreens.....energy drink that had a black container
I suspect that the reason to use the higher heat rated hose is due to the trapped heat between the airbox and the rocker boxes. The existing hose has the open mesh wrap on it, which I assume was there both for additional heat protection and abrasion protection. HTH.
It only happens when I am coasting from 1k to 1.8k rpms. The bike literally lunges back and forth. It really is like I am riding a bronco that only kicks front and back, not side to side.
just too low in the revs for any load, you are basically idling and feeling the individual firing of the plugs, pick the revs up a little, anything below 2k and not riding the clutch is ruff on the motor and tranny, stop doing that
Is there any problem with mounting the filter inside the air scoop? Would that be too much positive air? Has only had any oil come out of the breather filter. I noticed a small stain under bike. Thanks
