All Buells do this?
Not just buells, any moving vehicle will do that when you try to drive in gear with rpms so close to idle. Its just to low. So its normal. Stop that, only cruise as low as 2.5kish

Anyone had their actual breather tubes, the ones in the heads move around a little when in there hooking up all the hoses? I just did the breather mod and the tubes out the heads moved around quite a bit. I just dont want to get a leak. Would a high temp rtv sealent work if i put it around them a little?

Could just buy and replace the gaskets (#16 in Pic below): Pt.# 17606-00Y

I dont think i could get to them from under the airbox to remove and replace. Im not even sure they are bad. I was just wodnering if it would hurt to use some high temp rtv and seal them. My bike is actually in the house for the winter. I dont want to get it out in the spring to find out i have to tear it apart again. Thanks in advance

Anyone? Would it hurt to put a little rtv around the pcv and push it back into the gasket? The high temp rtv says it'll handle 600f

Not fooled with the RTV that much, but I was sure I could get to my gaskets just by taking the inner/outer airboxes off. Might as well fix it right while you're down for winter.

I doubt it would hurt anything. You just need to make sure whichever surface or surfaces you put it on are clean and oil-free. I guess worst case is if you do that (RTV between the PCV valve and the seal in the valve cover), if it pops, the seal will pop out, rather than the valve out of the seal. But what do I know?

See they might not be bad i dont know. They just seem to move back and forth when i was installing all the hoses, not completely loose. This bike only has 4k miles so i dont see them being so bad they would blow out. I just wanted a little assurance they wouldnt leak. I think i'll try the rtv after i wipe everything down with brake parts cleaner and i'll order the gaskets just in case. Thanks for the advise i'll let you know how it all turns out

WTF do i do with this??

Like ghost, I too still have that charcoal canister. Does anyone have instructions on how to reroute the two lines going into it? Pictures would also help if possible. BTW, I did the mod and did notice the difference. Thanks.

i was just wondering y would a person even need the filter and catch can y cant you just run it down the front or back of bike.
thanks

I don't have a catch-can on mine. Did use a breather in case the end got clogged up or dirt dobbers, etc. Routed open end to underneath the LH Driver's peg. Splurg crap blows past my swingarm - no problems.

Just finished this on my '04 XB12R super easy. I also chose to route the line down the left side and put the filter right behind the heel guard. Glad I did thi cause after I got the bottom of the airbox off the hose coming out of the rear head was split just after the nipple. Thanks again for the pics and step by step. I'll do my set up ride tomorrow on the way to work. [up]

Just a feeler here, but I'm currently deployed and may be able to get my hands on some spent 30mm cannon casing that I would be able to machine/fabricate into a catch can if there are some people out there who would like to see something like this! only thing that would be missing from the prototype is this filter because even if I were to order them now, they probably wouldn't arrive until after I get back. hopefully in a few days I'll have something mocked up and a picture posted.

yeah its a lil pricey i could see that if it came with the hose and fittings to hook it to the bike. But on the other hand i spent $52 just buying a breather filter, hose, some clamps, tee fittings and a drain petkock

Did my breather mod Monday night... I went by the parts list on the first page and had 2ft xtra hose and was short 2 clamps but i did it a lil diferent. I t'd the two stock hoses together after trimming them down a lil and ran the hose rearward over the the upper shock mount out the right side of the rear sub just behind the rear brake resv.where i attached the breather filterto the brake hose and then ran the drain hose down the brake resv. hose and the drain pet cok hides behind the heel gaurd. I shoulda taken a few more pics i havea couple on my phone ill try and post l8r. Thank you everyone for ur posts they helped a ton it only took me about 2 hours total to do the breather mod and throw in my nee K&N air filter

I did mine today. Didnt notice a huge difference while idling but completely did away with the burping while out riding. . There was oily splatter all underneath my airbox. The factory used zip ties to secure the breather hose and it had all but come off.
