I love the trigger action on the Tauras .40 .. except it blew up in my hand (sorta) my buddy hadn't cleaned it for 'bout 1k rounds and when I went to shoot it, the bullet came halfway out right above my right index finger. And got a face full of hot powder. Luckily I was wearing sunglasses.

Moral of the story, clean your guns. I clean mine after every trip to the range.

Just picked up a new "critter-gitter".. a stainless Taurus Judge in the 3" magnum. Quite a plethora of payloads available for it.. my favorite is the 3" mag 0000(quad-ought)buckshot.. thats 5 (9mm)pellets per round... or "25" 9mm buckshot pellets as fast as you can pull the trigger five times..(about 3 sec) Also chambers 250gr 45cal long-colt cowboy rounds, birdshot, personal defense rounds(disc/pellet/rod), sabot(steel rods), slugs, rock-salt(for a "less" lethal load)etc.. I'm pretty happy with the groups w/45 long-colts @ 50 yards! The quality, fit & finish on the examples I looked at, and the one I bought was/is impeccable

In my opinion glocks are too sloppy. They are reliable, sure.But inaccuracy is a scary thing for home defense. More of a plinking gun than anything else. Just my opinion though

Since home defense shooting is done across the room or less than, what, 20 feet how accurate do you need to be? You don't even need sights at that range. Just center the frame on the bad guy. Plus, reliability is paramount in that situation.

Like I said its my opinion. Just because you pull the trigger and it goes bang doesn't mean it is a quality weapon. Why settle when better accuracy and equal reliability can be had for the same price?

I dunno, it's really hard to be accurate in a high stress, quick draw situation. Inaccuracy of a gun plus your own inaccuracy could mean life or death.

My Kimber Grand Raptor. Definitely not a beginner gun, but haven't found a 45 that shoots smoother yet

They can be high maintenance, but they can also be so comfortable! My Commander has kimber internals (and some external bits). I love how it shoots and I won't trade it for any other hand gun.

I have a buddy that gunsmiths as a hobby. He checkered the front and back straps and did a trigger job on it for me. It makes me giggle like a school girl everytime I fire it.

That's awesome. Checkering is hard! I used to get old broken stocks from a local gun shop to checker. I never got very good at it. But it's been so long, I wouldn't even know where to start now.
