Not sure if you have already acquired a bike or not airwak, but I have owned an 09 Uly since Nov, 2012 and a 07 Tiger since May of this year. Love both bikes, very similar riding geometry.
I commute almost everyday and both bikes are excellent for this. The Tiger 1050 triple, very similar in torque to the Uly, pulls like a tractor in any gear at any rpm.
Both bikes are tall so I can see over most cars and hopefully they can see me. The gas mileage of the Uly is better, about 48 mpg, the tiger is about 44 mpg.
Riding 2 up the Uly is awesome, the best ever 2 up bike. When my wife wants to ride, it is always on the Uly. We rode 2 up a hundred miles last weekend and we got 52 mpg, i drive very cautiously and slow 2 up. People in general react to the Uly also, more than the Tiger. Not sure how they rated the HP and Torque on both of these bikes, but the torque feels the same, the HP of the Tiger is much greater and the bike can rip to the redline of 10K rpms. So can the Uly just to 7K rpms, so you do not get as big a rush like the Tiger. Despite this difference, I love the consistent torque of both stock bikes and how the torque increases from 2000 rpm all the way to the red-line. The Uly I think has a way, way, better quality suspension, giving it better comfort and handling, the rest is probably equal quality. The parts for the Tiger are about twice to 3 times the cost of the Uly, the mechanic work, even at Harley is cheaper than a certified Triumph service garage, at least in Dallas, maybe Fort Worth is cheaper? Either way there is great forums like this one, for both bikes, so I have not needed a professional garage for the Tiger.
I would say for cost of ownership, maintainability, cost for and accessibility of parts, versatility, cool points, the Uly wins.
For chasing down sport bikes in the city, the top speed of both bikes are about the same, but the tiger is quicker and wins. I am just an average rider and know the Uly can probably out perform the Tiger in maneuvering with a better rider than me.
Fun factor for both unaltered stock bikes are tied. I think the versatility of the Uly and what others have done with them makes it the winner.
