Thanks a million to all the brave folks who have selflessly served. I currently work as a job recruiter and I absolutely give preference to vets.

My plan is to join Va. Army NG sometime within the next year. I would love to have the distinction of having served and I also need to get my college loans paid down. Any advice (via PM so as not to clog the thread) would be greatly appreciated.

Again, thanks to all of our uniform service members.

Cool, good amount of vets in here.

Yeah I wish I could still stand up for this country, guess I have to find another way to make a diff now. Or wait for the fight to come here!

InfanrySoldier - How do you like fighting someone elses war? (Not wanting you to take this the wrong way, but I'm just curious)

Well I don't really know what you mean by that... Or how to take it, really.

Fighting America's war? Well I don't know. I wasn't there looking for WMD's, Bin Ladin, or stealing oil, or whatever the hell you mean. I was part of a NATO mission, along with a lot of other countries trying to bring peace to a really shitty region. I noticed a lot of changes in the 8 months that I was there. (and we whacked a ton of bad guys doing it...)

Also lost 23 of my friends and comrades while doing so during that 8 months.

So I don't know what way you want me to take your question, so if I did take it the wrong way, let me know which way you wanted me to take it.

InfantrySoldier - I just wasn't wanting to offend you. But yes, fighting America's War is what I was leaning towards. I do thank you for your input on the subject. I'm always curious as to what other countries military thinks about being in Afghanistan and such, when they wern't provoked in anyway to cause them to be there. I recently had a British Air Force Captain come through one of my classes at my base, and chatted a bit with him about his thoughts on getting deployed. He was excited to be going to hopefully make a difference.

Didn't really offend me, just wasn't sure how you meant the question.

As I see it, our two countries are allies, so yea. Hahaha. No hard feelings at all. We interacted with the Brit's more there than we did with US forces, although we did do some stuff with them too.

USAF ... since Feb 20, 2006 ... 2 deployments ... Al Udied and Kirkuk ... I do air traffic control (1C1X1 AFSC ... I believe that's a 15Q for the army equivalent .. not sure about any other branches TBH) ... I've accepted TDY's in quite a few places to supplement as temporary manning for control towers or RADAR facilities and I'm currently an AGR here in louisiana back close to where I grew up ... hopefully this is my last stop till retirement ... I've gotten moving down to an art from all of my relocations ... I'm slowly restarting my life here all over again from scratch ... not much is the same since when I used to live here ... But I've got my bikes to keep me company till I get everything sorted for the long run :) ...

Glad to see this attracted attention from foreign veterans, as long as their not enemies.
