I am sort of a convert to being pro police.
A few weeks ago I was driving home on the freeway after work. It was Friday and I was feeling great especially becasue I was out of that dreadful place I call my job.
All of a sudden the rush hour traffic comes to an abrupt halt. Traffic inches slowly for a few minutes. Finally I see the reason for the hold up. Two cars had left the roadway and crashed into trees lining the side of the highway.
Some people were pulling over to help. As I approached, I could see one of the cars driver's side door was open, but I didn't see anyone inside. The crumpled front of the vehichle was up against a tree and the windshield was completely shattered.
I thought about pulling over to see if I could help as traffic slowly crept by the scene unfolding before us. But then I see a State trooper on the opposite side of the freeway flying toward the scene.
At that moment I thought to myself, being a cop is a really ****** job Here I am feeling good because my weekend just started. And this guy is beginning his weekend by pulling bodies out of mangled metal.
I can only imagine his thoughts eveytime a dispatcher comes over the radio. Probably something like "What the **** sort of **** am I getting into now?"
Anyway, I can only imagine the **** they deal with. I bitch about my job but I sit at a desk and don't deal with real emergencies like they do on daily basis. Sure, it's a big deal when the "TPS report" is late. Now just imagine some armed psychopath trying to force his way into your home. Bet you'd be pretty quick to call them and even happier to see the boys in blue show up.
