Definitely report... if they tired to do it to you, they will be trying to do it to others.

Let the police do their job and make them do their job.

I hate this saying and "taking matters into your own hand" saying....
IT IS NOT THE JOB OF THE POLICE TO PROTECT YOU!
That BS on the side of the police car "To protect and serve" is horse crap!
Im all for making people do thier job, but in the context you use it; it is incorrect and it drives me nuts...
Not ment to be a Flame on you or argument starter... please dont take it that way.

To the OP... Good luck, Keep us updated; but I dont think you will have any luck since they actually didnt commit any crime against you. In actuality you assaulted one of them. The police may scare them out of being stupid in the future.

Yeah relying on the police to protect you is insane. They are clean up crews and run down suspects after the crime has already been committed. You are going to get arrested if you shoot someone in self defense, thats just how it is. But i would rather ride away in a cop car than in the back of an ambulance. Remember when seconds count the cops are only minutes away.

[up]

they are society's janitors, they show up afterwards and take the trash to the dumpster.

pfft, it is their job and your job is to make them do their job.

Doesn't take away your right to stop an ongoing or imminent attack.

But that's the state you choose to live in and these are the outcomes.

no idea why everyone is up for a confrontation that could result in getting yourself shot... if its a last resort and means protecting myself because i feel my life or others are in danger yeah at that point would it be worth drawing a gun, but why go through all that when i could just easily get away? its ok to use your head in situations like this, just like i did. granted i did not even have a gun on me but had i, it would not have came out, especially when there are children in the area, that reallly makes a lot of sense. no one got shot and they have been arrested after all the witnesses vouched for my story. that was probably the best way to solve it because im at work making money to enjoy life and go home to my girlfriend every day other that her visiting me in jail because i shot someone or the hospital or even a box because i got shot. which is more valuable to you?

Its not about initiating a confrontation, its about being prepaired to end one that is initiated without your input to wether you wish to be involved. I also am not in any meeting where bad guys discuss what weapons they decide to use so I must be prepaired for the worst. Im positive that no matter what people on here say, not one of them is ever excited to take somebodys life, they are just of the mindset that its better to be a wolf than a sheep.

And lamarchangle, since you think its the police job to protect you... Try and sue them if anything bad ever happens to you and see how fast you get laughed out of the courts... The police have no duty to protect the General Public. Look it up for yourself, you may not like what you read...

i do agree with you mark being prepared for the worst is a great idea especially with proper training, but id rather avoid that as my first choice. but if it does come to it, yeah ill do everything i can to protect myself.
and ofcouse skinner it couldnt possibly have happened because i didnt have a camera on me to worry about taking a picture while i was being chassed. come on man smartass comments like that really are not needed

I would bet money that all the people on here that were all Blast Blast Blast would have done the excact thing you did...

And the pic's comment was; i bet to lighten the tension that was growing. I thought it was a bit cute, made me chuckle.

haha well i have just heard that way to often from a guy i used to know in the marines from long island that way over used it and can now never see as a "tension reliever" so i guess its just me and i apoligize on that part of me not really having a sense of humor towards that.

Yep as far as i know it was only the driver and guy i kicked but i have not heard anything of the other two that were with them. im sure theyll just end up going to court and paying a fine or something and they probably wont say anything about the other two that were also in the vehicle.

blah, blah, blah

I'm in a different country, pay attention.

But that's the state you choose to live in and these are the outcomes.

After that, carry on, I can't comment much more because it is a different country's laws and philosophy.

I did pay attention, what im saying is.....
Lets pretend this happened to you, but the outcome was some minor brusing from being pushed off your bike, and the bike stolen.

Could you...
1) Sue the police department for not keeping you safe in the area that they "Have a duty to protect"

2) Sue the police if they never solve your case and return your property?

3) not have the right to legal actions at all?

My issue was your objection to people doing what they felt neccessary for thier own protection, and saying Hey you should not do that and instead rely on the police to keep you safe.

You don't seem to understand the requirements for a tort action. They are common to both countries.

You're also making an assumption. I never said that I objected to people doing what they "felt" was necessary for their own protection. That is common to both countries, even to the use of deadly force.

I do object to setting the bar for that "feeling" being so low.

I do object to not having to prove that "feeling" was based on reasonable grounds.

Also, bear in mind, I'm just one voice in another country, big whoop.

Yes I understand, im not taking offense, or think ill will. I love a spirited debate, and one of your statements is near and dear to my heart.

Relying on the cops for protection is as close to being a sheeple as you could get. Also the statement of taking the law in your own hands drives me nuts... When used wrong of course... Its all good my northern brotha[up]
