It depends on the state and their laws. I know I got my Class B in Colorado which translates to a Class 2 in Texas (that might be backwards with the 2 and B), and in Texas I can't be a police officer for Ten years from the conviction (even though it was deferrred they consider it a conviction) and I can't carry legally for 5.
VA may be different, it was just a warning as it's done that way here in Texas and could possibly be done that way elsewhere.
