Entertaining the idea of an aluminum front sprocket is just that. If anything goes wrong, you have aluminum shards where you don't want them.

I don’t think Any shards in the primary would be good. But if I had to pick. I’d pick aluminum over steel any day. Yes aluminum wears very quickly and you have to change the primary oil much more frequently. I know several people than run them with no problem. There’s is risk involved for sure but sometimes risk comes with the territory.

Can you use your new-er style rotor with your original stator? Are the crank bearings the same?

IMO, I don't think it's worth the extra maintenance for that slight reduction of rotating mass for the sprocket. However, I believe Pur Pony offers a lightened output shaft sprocket, or heck go with a full chain conversion, it's cheap, lighter, and you can pick your ratios.

I’ve been looking at this a while now. I actually think the 12 primary would feel pretty snappy with 120hp. Top speed would be up in the 150s I believe. Gotta check. Definitely want to keep the belt drive.

I agree with both. The 12 gearing is pretty quick stock, adding some quality HP's will only make it better:angel:

And I am a big fan of the belt drive. The first thing I noticed in the XB chain conversions I've done was the lack of any cushion. I never had a problem with the sprockets ovalling holes or anything, but no cush drive may be great for a race bike but hard on the street. Makes wheelies easier though! But a harsher ride.

Finished my aluminum jardine exhaust bracket. Tonight we try anodizing!

Ok. Theres a small learning curve with this anodizing thing. However, im gonna call this a win because it IS anodized, just not the color i was going for. Wanted a solid black but got a gun metalish color. Gonna strip it and try again tomorrow.

Yep. 2/6 amp 12volt. Wanted a trial run before I bought equipment. I’ll probably be anodizing without color on most parts anyways. It looked badass fresh out of the acid

This is the charger i used. I used simple green for cleaning the part, lye for etching, sulfuric acid for the anodizing and distilled water for rinsing. I also used rit black clothing dye. 1.5 hours cooking in the acid at 2 amps. easy off oven cleaner to strip it
