Kyle- How old are you? What makes you think that its feasible for you to do a kit car like that? I can tell from your language you are not very educated.....

sorry to stomp on your dream.... There are ways to do what you want but you are not going to get that BMW engine for a price that will fit in your budget.

My advice is this- take $5,000 and buy yourself a Porsche 944. If you want more, spend 10 and get a 944 turbo. It is the best car that kind of money can buy.

I dont know if you have known anyone with kit cars, but there is always something wrong with them, they never run right for more than a day at best, and they rattle like a tin can when you drive them down the road.

Stick to Stock cars, modify them with quality parts and you will be much happier.

oh and insurance isnt bad, and trust me, anything with a porsche badge turns heads, especially if its guards red.

when i was 18 i bought a 1981 924 turbo. It didnt run but i had dreams of fixing it up and racing against my dads 944. well needless to say i never fixed it up and it sat in my garage for a year before i sold it. Then i bought a 97 Prelude that would beat my dads car from light to light, but i could never keep up on the track where total preformance counted....

I hate the kit cars that are based on Fiero's or MR2s so this will be literally built ground up with a tub chassis and v12 engine. I mean, if you goning to replicate something why would you have a V6 or V8 in a car that comes with a V12?

ive narrowed it down to a diablo, murcielago or ferrari with a beefed up 4-cyl turbo. the 12's are smooth and strong, but with a kit car why not go with a stroked out 4-cyl turbo?

The ****? You'll be more queer than that Geo Storm above.

I'm going for the engine from the new BMW 760i V12, possibly go for the twin turbo version.
LOL are you an electronics engineer?

LOL are you an electronics engineer?

Aint that the truth. Ive set up a 2.2L turbo ecotech engine on a dyno and it was pretty difficult with the help of GM's assistance and wiring diagrams. We also have a different ecu that allows us to change all the parameters and such. They call them instrumented ecu's. There is a new ford 3.5L ecoboost engine that we will be setting up soon and that is twin turbod. Looks like fun for whoever has to figure that out. It might end up being me this summer.

Any Italian fake kit car is cheesy. There are plenty of fantastic exotic cars in the 30-50 price range. Ferrari 308's are great cars in the price range, Alfa Romeo GTV's or Montreals can be mint in that range. I belong to quite a few Italian car clubs and with the market the way it is there are deals everywhere.

Get a real car not one that will drop in value and get you laughed at. Or like the guys say above Factory Five, Ulitima or a Noble if you want to assemble something yourself. Though $50K will not get it with these cars but once done you'll have a car that will kick the crap out of almost anything you'll ever run against.

Okay people, holy shit, I can't believe a question gets so difficult for people to understand. Did I ask for someone to question my knowledge, no I did not. Do you know my background or anything, no you do not.

Rebel, I know where you are coming from. I've done the same thing and have a 65 Mustang, and International Pick up, and a few other "project" cars that I never got to. They are still sitting at my step-dads house.

On to a little more, I may be young and I may not sound the smartest, but I have almost finished my Degree in Computer and Electrical Engineering. Also, my uncle is a Mechanical Engineer who works with NASA here on Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL.

So, can we get this back to what it was about? Which one, why or why not. Damn

I've personally driven a number of Ferraris including the 328, 348 and 430..And just my opinion... I would never in a zillion years put the time into building a Ferrari or Lambo kit car. Your basically trying to replicate God's work of fine machinery.. it can never be duplicated or even imitated... Save your time and money and go with a cobra kit car. or go with a 328?? or even a 308 you can pick one up for as cheap as 25k.. All you would need after that is a mullet and a Hawaiian shirt and you can pretend your Magnum PI !

NOMADIC, haha, I def don't want to go with the mullet! I'm not looking to do a complete replica down to every single minute detail as well as performance and handling, but I want a project that I may never finish and when I do it has a long story. Besides, even if it is a replica, it will cost less to maintain than a real Ferrari. I'm just looking for something that not everyone does and something that I can be proud of because I built it ground up. That's the whole point of this really, plus it would look good!

Those kits look fake. You can spot them a mile away. There's a reason why the real things are called exotic.

I say don't waste your money.

I think you should do a 20's or 30's Ford Roadster. '23 T Bucket Roadsters give me erotic dreams

Truly, do something different. I understand why you want the look but once you've driven the real thing a knock off with a body kit is just that. Nothing to be proud of in the end.

Oh, haha, and I guess that's supposed to embarass me? Nice try, good job finding a myspace from a long as time ago! You are a master of the Internet.
