Wavex I feel the exact same way Randy seems to be a stand up guy, great to work with and very knowledgeable, and there are tons of buell riders who love the drummer. But if I can make my own I would like to try saves a lil $$ and its cool that I did it my self. PM if you do yours and let me know how it goes I have been lookin at a lot of hack pips and listening to some youtube how tos and audio clips deciding what the best route for me is going to be.

Got around to installing the Hawk this evening... WOW!

I am dieing to get a better sounding pipe on my bike. Talked to my dealer and he immediately talked me out of the jardine and pointed me toward the drummer. Looked into the special ops pipe and after reading this post I think I am going Hawk. Still a bit leary of dropping the operation of the valve but sounds like I need to just go for it.

With the Jardine I really noticed the valve missing. With the Hawk it has better low and midrange than the stock. You don't know the valve is gone at all.

Iyaoyas, the purpose of the valve is to help smooth out the torque curve.
My Hawk has a very nice smooth torque curve across the band.
Nice tone too boot. Really turns heads. Some saying WTF is that.
I am tempted to go out and find a parking garage just so I can see how many car alarms I can set off.

Man, I'm ready to get a Hawk but I'm so low on spending cash. My friend is a master mechanic and has everything I need to gut my pipe and weld up some stuff. I just don't know which direction to go. I'm wondering if i just open her up and remove the pipes, and throw in some > > > > shaped baffles? How many? 2? 3? Eventually I'd like to get a 9 pipe and make up a DIY VooDoo but I don't have the money for the RoboCop Donut. Or do I gut my current pipe pack it like the drummer and save up for a hawk? Gah Why must there be so many options?!?!?!

Randy went through 6 variations to find the baffle set up he has reproduced over 600 times. Not sure if he filed a patent on it yet. He is a good guy. give him a call. You don't know until you ask. He may give you a general idea of what to do. You could even experiment on your own too.

I just shipped my exhaust to Randy. Can't wait till it comes back! Have talked to Him a few times very smart guy. And for $200.00 bucks thats cheap! No if U.P.S. was fair that would be awesome. [sad]

For those of you on the fence about getting Hawk to chop the pipe... My buddy has a Dyna Low Rider with Screaming Eagle II pipes... My XB12Ss sounds meaner!

kokomochandler- I sent him mine and he should have it no later than Wed. He said he'll have his design down pretty fast.

My friend has a 2009 Dyna Wide Glide with stock pipes and we rode for the first time together since I put my Hawk on. He said it sounded real good and now he's going to get the Screaming Eagle Shorty's. He thought mine was a bid louder than he wanted his bike but he liked it.

I'm getting one done soon. Bought a used ecm and used pipe shipping them soon. I talked to Randy on the phone too, great guy. Told me how to get the pipe off , he even gave me hints about energy savings for my house. I told him I didn't want to cut up my stock pipe or reflash my ecm, he suggested places to buy a pipe and ecm and said I could have them shipped directly to him. I don't like the looks of the Jardine, the Drummer is too loud and I don't know much about the special ops pipe. If I don't like Randy's pipe I can go back to stock. I'll let you know what I think once it's installed.

I finally got a chance to hit up the Almafi Coast with my new HAWK! Here is a pic with Mt. Vesuvious in the backround.

I must say again I love my Hawk. Oh9Bolt and I did a bike swap on Saturday so I could ride next to my bike going down the road. Lemme tell ya, sounds even better next to the bike. Oh9Bolt just sent his pipe out today to Randy so I cant say enough about Randy and his work. Thanks again, and yes I keep repeating myself.

It seems that my MPG is up a little since installing the Hawk. Usually the Fuel light comes on around 110 to 115 miles with city driving. Hot lights and stuff. I am up to 129 and no light yet.
