Okay so I'm here at the in-laws' house and finally heard the youtube vids of the Hawk through a good sound system with an 8" woofer... WOW!!!! I can only hope the bassy "thump" I hear through the woofer is how the actual exhaust sounds like in person. Randy, you'll be getting a call from me very, very soon for my 09 XB9SX...[up][up]

The recording will give you an idea but never exactly the same. Randy's mufflers sound great and work really nice. Nice deep thump...........after giving all this praise I decided today to go back to the stock muffler. As much as I love the sound and power I found it a bit loud considering some of the times I ride. I use the bike to go to work at some real early times in the morning and there are a lot of young families in my area and I really don't want to cause anyone any grief at 5AM. My muffler is a modded XB9 muffler that I had on my 12Ss. The pic attached is the one of it when I got it from Randy last fall. It has about a thouand kilometers on it now. I have offered it to a local Buell rider first but I figured I would get it out here as well in case he decides not to take it. I'm open to reasonable offers on it including trades. I get a deal through Fedex so it will come to you overnight. I am in Newfoundland Canada just to give you an idea where its at. Email me at [email protected]

I got my Hawk today & good lord is it loud & in charge. Doesn't scream in my ears when I'm on the highway its awesome now they'll hear me when their not looking & if they weren't paying attention they will be.

can anyone describe a direct comparison between hawk and special ops? i have the special ops but dont really like the sound and its too loud for my neighbourhood early mornings. im working on a deal on a unmodified stock pipe off an 05? and considering 2nd try at having modded. shipping to/from canada is slow and 80$ each way which sucks.

@ Bal, Hawk can do several different baffles that give you a deep tone and vary the sound level in a way that will not piss of the neighbors but still turn heads.

I think I have the loud version and after 3.5k miles I'm getting tired of it. I love the torque, just not the noise. I may have Randy mod it quieter or just sell it.

I love mine just the way it is. On long rides I just put in ear plugs. need them for the wind noise anyway.

This threads gotten huge, but if you read back through some of it - many times, if he has one on hand, he'll send it to you and won't accept payment until you've rode with it. Stand up guy with a very quick turnaround even if he doesn't have one on hand.
