It figures. I wished I discovered this when it was initially posted 3 yrs ago. I will be selling the bike soon.

has anyone converted to dual low/hi beams, so you would run dual lows at night and dual highs by day for visibility/looks or on back roads at night? Specifically for
2009 xb12r

I would be very interested in this...

Hi. Can someone please explain what this mod is for? I don't feel like reading 9 pages.

:p Just kidding. I read all 9 pages. I am wondering, however, if those of you who've had this mod for a while (several months/years) have experienced any problems. I think one person said he/she had a broken ground wire which explained his/her repeated blown fuses. In other words, is the long-term outlook for this mod safe from a battery/charging system perspective?

Thanks in advance.

I didn't do the mod how it is instructed on this thread. I did mine a few years back before joining any forums. I just spliced the two headlights together and use my highbeam position as an off option. I have never had one single fuse blow or had any problems whatsoever. 33,000 miles and counting [up]

Did mine tonight in the dark. Took all of 10 minutes. Thanks to everyone for all the great information.

I just bridged the low beam and high beam wires inside of the switch housing on handlebar. It is way easier than taking everything apart. With it turned onto High both lights come on and when i switch to low only the low beam comes on.

Sweet mod first one I did. Definitely gave me the mod bug. Thanks for the nice diagram with the internals of the plug. Knowing where to apply pressure inside the wire harness made it simple.

Wow this thread is timeless. Just finished the mod, took about 10 times as long to read through the 9 pages of thumbs up. Shoulda done it long ago. Simple and effective!

Did the mod yesterday and took the bike out all day. Stop and go kinda riding in 31 degree weather.First the lights melted, then the battery got so hot it set my ass on fire, then the seat, and eventually the hole bike imploded. Kidding, worked like a charm and no ill effect on the charging system. Also, it's one of those mods that increase "Badassness"..makes ya want to ride with just a leather skull cap and sunglasses!

I bought my '05 XB12R with 15K miles in November...looks like the previous owner did this mod, as both lamps are on when the high beam switch is on, and just the low beam lamp is on when just the low beam switch is on.

This is a Lightning only mod - Bolts came from the factory with both on high. ;)

Just completed this one while I was installing my HID's

did this afternoon after work, took all of 5 minutes using a small nail, had just enough wire exposure to remove it from the connector block...should have done this mod a long time ago, it's freaking awesome[up][up][up]
