Buellxb Forum

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

would love to see the original pics reposted or if anyone has a link to another one or if anyone wants to take NEW PICS of their own it would be greatly appreciated! just got my Buell XB9S last week and i'm already looking to fix it up right. Thanks!

Urban_Assault I'm ready to do this mod but can't see your pics, can you email themnto me or re-post them?

Thanks in advance!
Derick

I recall reading on the ASB exhaust shootout that the breather reroute is known to add 2-3hp. What do you guys think about that?

I will be changing my reroute layout soon, filter is under the seat and hose goes back to the passenger pegs at the moment, but I get a lot of oily residue coming out of the filter, spewing on the frame and part of the seat. That's no good, so I'm going to run it up front soon.

2-3 hp is minimal enough to even be error on the dyno. Theoretically this would add slightly power, but not a lot.

Catch can from American Torque.

Anyone else having problems with the pictures in the write up not loading? I'm about to do this and pics would definitely help.

Edit: just read the last couple post guess it's not just me

I NEED PICS!!!!!

I finished the breather reroute this weekend. Thanks for all the great advice, it started better, ran smoother, and was better off the line from a standstill.

Hi guys,

Just a quick question, I've just ordered all the parts to do this mod over the weekend (weather looks bad).

Should I have got a certain spec hose (i.e. temperature range)?

Just wondering if the standard hose I've got (air/oil) will not stick the heat?

Or did you guys just get any 3/8 hose for the mod?

Thanks.

Well, did mine today, and, apart from noticing that my wallet was a fair few £ lighter, I didn't notice a bit of difference.

It still surges and lurches at slow speeds, if anything, it's possibly worse!

Does the ECU need to learn?

Do I need to get a few miles under my belt with the mod before I notice any difference?

I would appreciate any ideas. It's working, as I'm getting the odd drip from the drain pipe, but overall, the riding experience is no better.

LBoltUK - If you read through some of the first posts in this thread i think they said you needed to run like 3 or 4 miles for the ECU to adjust to it. Also the differences for most people really aren't all that noticeable unless you are really looking.

pics would help though, and i would double check to make sure none of the hoses came off or are getting pinched off if you are still worried

I got 4 feet of 3/8 oil cooler hose and a brass 3/8 fuel line T from Autozone. Run the two breathers into the T, then run the hose down out the passenger footpeg. I've noticed that there is a check valve in the breathers. Only out, no in. I can't blow air into the heads. Only suck it out. So I did not add a filter and instead "vent to atmosphere" route. Done this mod to both my Buells and so far so good!

Will give it another run today.

The connections are all good. I'll get some pictures later.

The surges are very noticeable, in fact, slow town riding is a pain and needs a feathered clutch most of the time.

Owned my '07 XB12Ss for less than 24 Hrs and had to do it.

Just completed the mod. Noticed a big difference at low speeds. I will replace the filter as needed, instead of installing a drain or catch can, just to keep it simple. I also found that using brass fittings was a little easier.

Thanks to everyone who contributed here. Good info to be had.

Just did my breather reroute and airbox delete today.

Ordered a kit from ASB. Little disappointed with the quality, I was missing 4 nuts and the airbox intake filter cap/cover was warped and looks like it might leak.

The instructions said to reroute the filter to the front of the engine. Some on the forums have advised this.

I think it looks better in the back, aside from my foot rubbing it. But if there is any oil exhaust I don't want it getting on my oil cooler or heads either.

Went for a ride after TPS and IAC reset. Definitely runs a little smoother throughout and more responsive in my opinion,

Is it normal to make a flapping noise around 3k rpm?

So here's the results.

I finally did the Breather Mod yesterday. I didn't add a catch can yet. I also cleaned my K & N and I'm going to do a TPS Reset and then jump on the freeway for about 8 to 10 miles, turn around and come back. I have a 2009 XB12R. Let's see if it smooths anything out. I'll Post a Pic if all goes well.
