Update!! 200mm back tire Review.

Buellxb Forum

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

Different tires have different curves and shapes
A michilen power pure for example is much more round than a pilot road that is a little flat on top and they both have a slightly different curve profile from a power or road 2 in addition to different treads and compounds.

^^^ Agreed. That contact patch in a lean is 1/4 of what my tire is. I don't give a hoot about how it looks. I want performance and a 200mm tire is not going to give you performance at all. It's simple math.

Badxb's tire might be ok, it looks like it has enough contour to it that it may provide an adequate contact patch leaned over.

But if you want a 200 and GUARANTEED contact patch you need a stretched rim, no other way around it.
But if you aren't putting cornering loads equivalent to track level riding you will PROBABLY be ok with a 200 on a stock rim.
Badxb's looks more than proper to me, how hard are you pushing it at the track? Are you melting the rubber so it looks "fuzzy"?

Personally I love the look of a 200 on back, especially Badxb's, but I trust 180.
If I could afford to try a 200 and see how it does and afford to buy a 180 if the 200 didn't pan out I would. And if the 200 gripped just as well I would keep it.

Props to you guys all the same for trying it out, I love seeing guys taking initiative personalizing a bike, especially if it's a Buell :D[up]

im ordering my new set of tires ,going with the 200mm because everyone tells me not to.
extreme how do you like the shinko tires? how was the wear ? im looking at shinko apex ties they look the best and only cost $172 a set. they are the only brand offering the 200mm in a set, just hope they are good as they look.

I love the shinko tires have gotten the most miles out of them and felt no lack in performance[up]

I actually bought another set already to replace mine once they are worn out, or Buellchick takes them [smirk]

As ive only been riding "hard" for last 2 months ive yet to get the "fuzzies" i mainly ride on mountain roads and im not getting left behind. I suppose i wont know how far i can push this 200 untill i push to far... i will let you know when that happens...

I hope it never does

it sounds like you may be pushing it about as hard as I push my tires, I may crack and buy a 200 next season too :)[up]

So sorry to hear that you had a crash, hope you and your bike are ok. Love the cornering shot of you above, got some real lean on !
Going to get new tyres today, going for bridgestone bt002 in 190mm standard front, will fit new wheel bearings and headstock bearings things are getting a little sloppy ESP rear wheel.

ok,i still have not bought a 200 rear tire yet. the reason..there are not many brands to choose from. you can buy the 200 in pilots or any tire i am interested in. what brand are you 200 rear tire club using?

metzler makes some 200/50 tires

shinko is what X has
dunlop is what BadXB has

I have already decided that Ill be going 190/50 next set. 200 is just a bit much for me, and with a 190 I have just about the same options as I do with my 180, maybe more.

There are quite a few out there but the prices for a 200mm jump drastically for most name brands.

As Delta mentioned I am running Shinkos

its strange that the only good looking tire is the shinko but everyone tells me not to use them. the metzlersare too expencive, the others arent sport bike tires but look like them. guess ill go to a 190. should i get a 55 or 50? i want it to look as wide as possable and keep the hugger and trimmed belt gard.

What about the front? I am running Shinko up front as well.

Cant say, I have only ridden in the rain maybe 3 times with them and it was straight home.

I don't ride in the rain [smirk]

Hey xtreme, on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best) how would you rate the shinkos? I know you ride a bit aggressive at times, when I got my bike it had a new Diablo on the rear and an almost worn out Battle axe up front. I thought about buying a shinko combo and just replace both.

I hate to rate it on a scale since I have ridden on many different tires and in the end they all stick close to same minus whatever I had when I bought my first bike.

But this is due to the bad roads here in MI. I guess if i did rate them for daily driving and hard riding I would say a 6-7 I know there are better tires (which ones? I am sure many members will say what they have) but I just don't have the roads to utilize them.

Hope that helps if it makes any sense [smirk]
