Yeah I am with ya on the velvet, really sweet isn't it, seems like it really wakes up my stock Uly!
Gloomshadow are you going to run this in your XB12, curious if the lower amount of synthetic you are using will have the same impact? Wish I knew someone with a fiber optic camera that could peek down in the intake valves to see if there are deposits there. I am tempted to switch from MMO to synthetic, not sure if it will be marine or landscaping? Let me know how it goes with your XB12?

Ill try it out tomorrow, I cant give a full street test though, my back tire on that bike has exposed threads but I can ride it around inside my community, temperature should be up.

Im not too worried about the deposits if there are any. Those heads are huge and I would imagine that the old HD motors back in the early 1900s were getting pretty dirty with that old fashioned gas without any ill effects. Either way, this is modern synthetic 2-stroke oil, how bad could it really be at 1 to 600? That's a tiny amount in the big picture of things. I bet you could run a tank of Sea Foam through once every six months and clean anything that builds up right out of there.

I haven't had time to read this whole thread but did read someone mentioning marine oil, I would stay away from any oil called for liquid cooled motors. I'm in the lawn business and use 2 cycle oil on a daily basis and can assure you marine oil in air cooled motors is a very bad idea. I think y'all might be on to something here though.
I run Amsoil Saber in all my equipment and love it. I'd suggest looking into that oil for this application. All my equipment calls for 50:1 but amsoil recommends 100:1 or 80:1 for all applications. I've been running 80:1 for over a year with no problems.

Just a few thoughts.........

Bike sounds nice in the video, but i'm still not convinced.

Probably will try this myself and see.

Well, it is raining today and for the foreseeable future. [mad] I rode it to work and back yesterday and can't say that I noticed a difference but that was also less than 30 miles round trip. Maybe a little less clatter, but can't say for sure yet.

Mobile 1 in both holes. Just changed the oil a week ago. Temp was in the high 60's on the way to work and around 80 on the way home. 2-cycle was the same oil I use in my leaf blower and trimmer. Don't remember brand at the moment, will have to check.

at 80F you are at the limits of what is recommended for that oil.. once I went over the 20w-60 that solved a lot of problems for me. I have used it at temperature as low as 50F with no issues.

The rain passed us up today and on the ride into work it did seem to run just a bit smoother with a little less chatter. Can't say that I have noticed any difference in the fuel pump noise. I put a new fuel pump in about 2K miles ago so not sure if that would make any difference. I'll give the 20W60 a go on my next oil change before the temps here start regularly getting above the mid 80s and see what that does as well. Have a little over 31k miles on her so not sure if 11 years and that many miles might mean it takes a little longer to see differences. She has been well taken care of for the last three plus years and 12K miles I have had her. Take care of her so she takes care of me :D

that Blue 9SX of mine has almost 80,000 miles on it. I used that 50 for about 3 years and the 60 for the past 1-1/2 or so.. 60 made a BIG difference, the extra air scoop helped out a bit too with the 60, its a good combo. The 2-cycle is just icing on the cake. MOST of the work is being done by the 60 weight.
