2-stroke oil experiment.

hell, I must be crazy of my mind, I did this two stroke oil thing, and ... hell if it seems smoother... what I can't understand is, the oil only goes from the tank through the pump passes the injectors and the admission valves ends on the cylinder piston and top pressure ring.
how the hell makes an engine smoother? hã?
another thing, can I mix the redline SL-1 cleaner and the oil?

SL-1 is detergent. I would not mix it. I would use the 2-cycle for most of the time then every few months, run a tank of SL-1 through it to clean the system If you want.

How does it work? I think it may be "enriching the fuel" and making it act more like old fashioned gasoline. Then, I would think some of it is misting up into the head and lubing things.

After doing more research I think I am going to try this not only in my bike but my power stroke diesel as well. People have sworn by this for years now, think its time for me to try as well. I will let you know my impression after a couple tanks.

ok, thanks for the tip Gloomshadow [up]

it should clean injectors and extend the life of the fuel pump.

please read the entire thread and watch the video updates I have posted. I cannot repeat everything for everyone. All of the information has been posted already.

I doubled up on the 2-cycle in the 1203... 40ml. There was a definite improvement... the top end acceleration from 3,000 RPM to yellow line scared me. It was like taking a hit off a can of Nitro, especially once it had spooled up to 4K.. it was like hitting a light switch, it just kept on coming out of nowhere. I wasn't expecting that.

Gloomshadow - which 2-cycle are you running? You had a couple of different ones in your video(s). Have you used different brands and if so have you noticed any differences or suggest one above the other?

I agree that top end above 3.5-4K RPM does feel like it has more torque and seems to be smoother. As I previously mentioned, the engine chatter seems to have decreased. Still can't say that I've noticed any difference in the fuel pump. However, I have only run one tank and used about 3/4 ounce. Might try bumping it up to an ounce on next fill up and see if that makes any difference, good or bad.

I am using Homelite premium synthetic garden tool 2-stoke oil for high temperature ,small displacement air cooled 2-stoke motors.. Nothing special . Its **** you get at Home Depot. 1203cc I bumped it up to 40ml per tank already .. so about 2-ounces.. running good. 984cc, Im at 20ml and pretty happy with it but I may go ahead and bump that one up too.h

no, no difference in fuel pump yet either.. but that's not what Im going for now that I stumbled into this...
