Hawk Performance Mufflers!!!

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

It's a bit chilly out but I got the drive-by video. Let's hear what you think...

Hey Fishgutz where did you read that? I heard the same thing, that my 09ss will adjust itself to both a K&N and an exhaust. Just want confirmation.

Guiness, it is actually in the installation instructions for the Drummer.
Supposedly no codes are thrown. The ECM learns that i is not there anymore.
The money I save doing the Hawk instead of the Drummer can pay for MC jack stands.

That is my understanding.

Doing the computer remapping manually allows one to tune it for a specific performance curve.
If I had the money I would Dyno my XB before the Hawk and then after doing the self adjust. From there, a selective retuning could be done if desired.

From what I understand it will not adjust for both the filter and pipe. Only one. I'm sure others will chime in here. My 12 is running great with just the pipe. All I did was disconnect the cable on the muffler end and tie it up out of the way. I think if you disconnect the servo you will get an engine light. There are servo emulators available as well.....Did I say I love my new Pipe:D:D:D:D[cool][cool]

I think this pipe is a much better option than a Jardine, but it still doesn't compare to a drummer, special ops or my voodoo. But for what Hawk is charging, its a steal.

I agree to an extent. I think dyno sheets will tell the tale. To date, I don't know of anyone that has dyno'ed theirs yet. Build quality is good and Randy is really easy to work with regarding custom ideas and the turn around time can't be beaten!

I'm not taking anything away from the other guys because I'm certain that they have a proven product that is of high quality, but you're right...$175 is an unbeatable price for what you're getting!

It would be interesting to see a Dyno shoot out between these guys.
Jardine is just a can that is fit for the Buell and needs to be repacked every 5K miles. Spec Ops, Hawk and Drummer never need and packing because there is no glass pack to blow out.
And Jardine's curve is bell shaped. The other three are said to maintain the nice flat torque curve.
There is another company that makes a variable baffled pipe. forget the name but is comes up in a Buell search on you tube. Tone is too metallic for my taste. The tonal difference between the Drummer and Hawk is thump. The Drummer filters more of the higher frequency ticking and gives it a deeper thumping tone. It is similar to the V&H I heard at the HD service center.

a shoot out would be interesting but I would probably still go with Hawk. His customer service is unbeatable. You will get a response within minutes instead of days or weeks and not only is his way better he will most likely do side work for free i.e. my grater eliminator. ask spec Ops what he charges (if he gets back to you) and his grater eliminator is as much as hawks pipe!

Bottom line is Randy Hawk does it for the love of it and not for the Money. Soul in every piece he does. The others act like Harley has been acting lately, whats in it for them.

I here ya on Specs. H is slow to respond. I did get one of his under seat heat shields. I will have to wait until next summer heat to see how effective it is.
I like my Cheese grater. Extra rain shield. Though I must admit I like the clean look of the chopped rear.
It looks like I could do it myself with a cutting wheel, grinder, sander and touch up paint. But the points where the blinker attach give me tie down points when I travel to Wilson to train.
The video clip of the Hawk running down the road has good audio quality. I'm going to have to have nmy son record me driving by stock and then Hawk. Gee I guess it looks like I already decided what I am going to do.
When a business has satisfied customers, they don't ned so much advertising. They do the selling for you.

50D, Nice video clip. Looks like the aspect got squished along the x-axis. Same on the other clips from your garage. Does you tube do that to the video on upload?

Thanks Fishgutz!

Not sure what the deal is with the aspect ratio? I think the camera has a 16:9 mode on it and perhaps it gets squeezed together when it's downloaded from the camera??[confused]

This may be a result of the large single outlet I had Randy put on mine? According to Randy, his pipes have a deeper tone with the dual tips...

Cool. Good info.

RTFM is something I mumble to myself after failing to figure something out.
Read The Effing Manual.
