28003, nice! Can't go wrong with a BCM upper.

I really want to build an AR too. Seems as though every year I build something, last two years it was a mountain bike and a computer. Half of the fun is finding good deals and hard to find specialty parts.

I am interested in building an AR-15. How would I go about looking for good pieces, and what would I be looking at cost wise?

I read the first link that 28003 posted and I learned alot. Thanks man for that link.

I carry a Daisy 25 Pumper ! It's used to scare the critters that come from the field behind my house. That's right, I'm A BADASS !

An ar build can cost as low as $600 but a much better quality one around $1000 and up. Still can save a few hundred.
Just put together a little frankenstine.
Spikes upper and lower
Troy quad rail, forward grip, flip up front and rear sights.
Yankee hill barrel.
And a rock river stock and grip.
Also just put on a magpul bad lever which is pretty bad ass.

Need to find some good optics still.
Wish I could aford a acog but prob go eotech.

In addition to what Riderdie and BikerTrash said:

I don't know anything about the PSA lowers, but I would probably trust them just cause of their reputation. I ordered a Spike's lower (spikestactical.com) from AIM Surplus: aimsurplus.com

I haven't ordered my upper yet, but am 99.99% sure i'm going with a BCM upper: bravocompanyusa.com
It was between BCM and spike's for the upper, but BCM's quality is 2nd to none. and it helps that my upper is on sale for around $520 (originally $800).

Whatever you do on your build, a) buy quality stuff and b) build what you like and c) be practical, not tacticool.

edit: if you're looking to drop a few g's, LWRC is the ****, but $$$$. you can also drop some serious coin on LMT and Noveske.

LMT Is the ****. I wish I could afford one of those.

A budy that helped me with my build has a few of the lewis ar's well worth the money.

My professor for int. His. 490 at ODU is the great grandson of Lewis.
Lewis made his first machine gun in 1914 used in WW1... Check it out pretty impressive machine for the period.

My new carry/backup. [up]

That revolver is double action only, the trigger cocks it right before it goes bang.

Well, looks like my AR build plans have to be put on hold, a Rem 700 SPS Tactical in .308 followed me home yesterday. $480 out-the-door, plus I have another $40 coming back from the rebate!

Now I just have to buy a scope base, rings, scope, and a bipod.

Cabela's. The $549 sale tag was still on it, 2 days after it had expired, and they honored it. I also signed up for a Cabela's credit card, and one of the perks to signing up was the opportunity to save $100 on a purchase of $500 or more. :D

Lot of good info on AR15.com Plus spikes tactical has their own board. They are a great bunch of guys and have outstanding customer service.

Just picked up my AK the other night, after having it for 20mins is the second pic. I will post an updated one here this week, I have a tapco slotted muzzle break, 3 30rd Tapco Composite mags, new Macco pistol grip with storage, rear sling attachment, tactical laser with 200 lumen cree led light, and I need to trim the upper hand guard. I also have some ammo coming so I wilkl try to get some videos, and I am thinkng about doung a duracoat dark grey paint job this winter, but we'll see. If anyone is interested cheaper than dirt.com has them for $340 shipped to your ffl.
