    Veterans

USMC Vet, former 2146 tank mechanic, I did four years and got out this past May. One deployment to Afghan with 2D Marine Logistics Group and some of the best people I could've asked for on my crew.

DMV Buellers meet up and rides

Just wondering if this was anyone on here but I recently came across another Buell rider on an XB going down RT-522 heading towards Winchester, VA with the license plate "Huligan". If anyone knows who this is let me know because I'm always looking for fellow Buell riders to tear up some mountain...

    x1 shifting issues pretty bad

I was just thinking about one more thing, I'm not sure how much money you're planning to spend but if you're feeling gutsy enough Baker Drivetrain makes their XL6 cartridge gearset which is pricey (around $2,300 from jpcycles or $2,580 from Baker, same product). Just felt it may be worth at...

    x1 shifting issues pretty bad

Replacement parts should be fairly easy to come by since tubers like ours use the Harley Sportster 1200 engine/trans. You could always purchase a cartridge gearset off of ebay or I've found jpcycles.com has a decent selection of trans parts. You could always pull it yourself and look to see how...

    x1 shifting issues pretty bad

I'm reading from my M2 manual so forgive me if any of this sounds confusing. Also if you don't have one of these manuals I highly recommend buying one, best $40 ever. 1. Clutch adjustment- The clutch can be adjusted by pulling off your clutch cover and turning the screw near the ball and ramp...

Check out this X1 for sale on ebay

Looks like there's already 10 bids on it, someone unfamiliar to Buell is going home with a deathtrap unfortunately.

I'm still always up for a ride, I'm in Front Royal.

    Who's in the military????

One of the popular things to do is just get a metal plate and mount it on the front or the side of the bike, just try to get it on the left side so it'll be easier for the gate guard to see.

    Another newbie to the Buells

Welcome to the forum! That's definitely a beautiful X1 and if you need any advice just search around the forum first because chances are it'll be a common problem (IE: front brake switch) and that someone else has had that problem too. Other than that though good luck and happy riding!

    s1 lightning wont start HELP

You're in the wrong message board friend, you need to look into the older series X1, M2, S3. I'm thinking your battery is alright, but I recommend checking your fuses and making sure none of the simpler things (wiring) are bad. A stator replacement isn't anyone's idea of a good time but if...

Shouts of compliments to my Buell from strangers on the road

Earlier last year I had a typical situation turn kind of odd, I was cruising the main drag doing about 40mph when a crotch rocket flies by me doing upwards of 60 (in a 35) so I just let him go thinking he was going to get pulled over. I catch up to him a little farther down the road and lifted...

    Carburetor electrical

If I'm not mistaken it should act as a sensor that sends a signal to your ignition module to adjust the ignition timing (advancing/retarding) based upon how far open you have the throttle at a given point in time.

What did you do for your Buell today?

I tore down the rear cylinder on my 99 M2 and gave her a fresh set of Genuine James Gaskets, plus a fresh oil change, primary chain adjustment, front brake pads, and moved the rear wheel back a hair. Also, it's very easy to tear apart the rear cylinder without rotating/removing the engine...

    Buell tubers mileage

1999 M2, K&N forcewinder intake, V&H muffler, 22,XXX. I average about 40 mpg because I routinely ride to/from work which is only a few miles, and when I do get out in the open I'm fairly abusive to that right grip ;)

    whats your dream car/truck?

Either a 91 GMC Syclone or a 69 Yenko 427 Nova (the only car who's creator said "It's almost lethal".

Holy shit KTM, bring this to the market already!

I think I'd keep my tuber, only for the fact it's paid off and that's probably a $15-20K bike.

How did you choose your Buell model?

For me I'd like to say mine chose me, I was in the market for a new-to-me motorcycle and decided to browse cycle trader for an affordable sporty bike but it had to be a "naked" and it couldn't be an inline 4. One of the first matches that showed up was a 99 M2 with 17,XXX and was only a hundred...

    My new toy/winter project.

I found some more information on the fan switch for you, this is from the V65 society book webpage. According to the MagSab page, you can replace the stock thermostatic switch with an "ECHLIN #FS130" switch which can be obtained from a Napa Autoparts store for $28. This switch turns on at...
